Re: ESPN: Clayton Expects Skins to Tender Campbell for a 1st and 3rd

Remember the idea that those who can, do, and those who can't, teach? There are a number of great QB coaches and mentors who were not very good QB's.

I think JC would be an excellent mentor for our (still mythical) young qb. He has just the right unselfish attitude and toughness to take a newbie under his wings.

Yeah often the greats make the worst coaches and have no interest in taking a young guy under their wing.

Yeah well we have a QB coach, JC won't be the only one teaching him.

JC's value in mentoring would be helping a guy deal with the mental toughness, picking yourself up off of the ground and going at it again, dealing with the questioning of ability, playbook stuff, etc..

What changed your mind?
If the choice was a rookie QB and someone like Colt then I would keep JC. If its a rookie and someone like Pennington then I'd let JC go.

Redskins issue first-round tenders to Campbell, Rogers

It's official now

Watching the Raiders try to tender players has to be the equivalent of NFL stand-up comedy.

Player who has led the team in tackles the last five years: 3rd round tender. Player who has more or less busted at CB and brings only height-speed to the table: 1st and 3rd round tender.

Not to suggest that they're overvaluing Morrison at a 3rd round tender, it would probably be a good deal for them to get a 3rd rounder for him now, but I have no idea what standard that team is on.

Tendering Campbell for a first only is liking inviting the rest of the league to bid on him. They want him gone. If they were okay with going into next year with him wouldn't they tender him for a 1st and a 3rd and take a shot at getting 2 picks? They must want to swap Campbell for somebody's 1st-round pick and then use the 2 1st-rounders to trade up for Bradford.

Welcome aboard. I don't know how much we can assume about Shanny. Bradford is getting tons of hype but I doubt that means much to our FO. Shanny knows the needs of his system best and what he want from a QB. Certainly possible Bradford is a good fit, but I haven't heard anyone say as much (and I don't have enough knowledge to make an evaluation).

...historically all I can say is Shanny has only seemed to get solid offensive production out of QBs who have a relatively quick release and enough arm to tattoo the WR. Evidently Bradford has a quick release, but I haven't seen any video of him firing a bullet.

So it's conceivable Shanny and the FO simply don't want JC but don't have Bradford strictly targeted. There are a handful of vets out there who IMO would be better mentors for a rookie QB (Pennington and Garcia namely).

I'm telling you all, we'll probably trade JC and our first for St. Louis's first (maybe we throw in someone like Rocky) to get Bradford.

I will break the record for expletives in a single post if we pull that move... Even Vinny wouldn't do that.

Then what would we do to move up to the 1st overall pick? Are you saying we'd trade our first and Rocky for their first? They need a QB, so I don't doubt this happening.

Seriously, why the assumptions Shanny has fallen head over heals for Bradford or Clausen?
