Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Read it now:
Ron Rivera 'ready to roll' into next HC job http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...to-next-hc-job I was very blunt about it. And that's it. If they're not all in, if they're not willing to do it your way, it's time to f----- get rid of those guys. And that's what happened; we systematically got rid of guys that weren't doing it our way." Having successfully changed a culture once, Rivera is supremely confident that he can do so again. In evaluating teams with potential openings, he is not squeamish about the possibility of rebuilding. Four criteria loom above all else. "I'm gonna look at the whole picture," Rivera said. "Personnel. Am I gonna be able to get the coaching staff I want? Am I gonna get the collaboration and cooperation I'm looking for (from the general manager)? And ownership. When I get a chance to talk to these people and go through all this stuff, that's what I want to know. Location? Division? Those things don't matter to me."

On a different note, apparently O'Connell is not locked to be Redskins offense coordinator. Riveria will interview him for the position. According to Rapoport's report. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1212378087570247680 |

No coach on the Redskins staff now should be a “lock” - not even O’Connell. But I hope he gets the OC job. I’d really like to see how he could do without Callahan or Gruden over-riding his playcalling. I mean the Redskins ran on 80% of their first downs -is that predictable or what?? I think in the last games we saw some of O’Connell’s playcalling unfettered by HC overrides. Haskin’s has two outstanding last two games and O’Connell’s plays were imaginative. Adding someone like Austin Hooper at TE in FA will fill a huge hole left by Reed and Davis. We need an elite TE for Haskins development. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Ron Rivera Thread
Hate to be the wet blanket but whenever I start feeling good about these changes I remember we’ve had quality coaches in the building before (Gibbs, Marty, Shanahan) and they couldn’t overcome bad ownership.
Whether Rivera is successful here or not will all depend on if Snyder can stay out of football related matters. No meddling, no taking over the first round of the draft, no undermining the HC by buddying up with the QB, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
