Re: Updated Title: 8th Circuit Court Grants Stay, Lockout Reinstated
I don't. Was it emotional yes, but the point he made should be one that all of us can agree with, Get past the symbolic stuff, take the position of Commisioner to heart, and get both sides back to reality. To tint it with a throwaway line about Cowboys fans was a foolish snide remark, and that is why I prefaced it to say this wasn't a wannabe politico or simpleton, this is a man that is as respected on their board as Matty is here. Also, he definitely has contacts in the league that has given him the ability for his words to be mean something in insider circles.
I hate the cowboys as much as anyone, but this issue isn't about watching dallas fans whine, or about arguing amongst ourselves over who is more at fault, it's about both sides rolling up their sleeves, locking themselves in a room and hammering out a real and stable deal, like Hostile said. If you can't read an emotional response from an intelligent man and fan, then that is your loss, not his. |

Intelligent fan I can read, rambling fan I can not. I'm almost betting the commish will get as far as I did and put it in the pile of other letters.
Rule #1- You want to be heard, make your point, and make it short and sweet. I'm all for sticking together, but again there are a lot of us who can't decide which side to pick. I'm actually leaning towards the owners a little. I don't like everything they have done but I understand their situation. Just like I'm sure there are fans who don't and only want to understand the players side of things and think that owners are unreasonable. But we as fans can all stick together and pick the players side, put pressure on the owners to get something done, give up the money issue, and later down the road when the piss poor markets start complaining that they can't afford to stay in their market and want to move..... don't be the first fan to scream foul. Let the owner move his team to a more lucrative market so there will be less revinue sharing and teams can keep more of their income. |

Anyway, back to lockout stuff. I find it interesting that the NFL is making contingency plans for free agency rules if the 8th Circuit Court rules against them. Report: NFL crafting alternative to 2010 rules | ProFootballTalk

Funny thing about all of this is even though the players are granted 53% of total revenue the fact remains that the owners don't have to pay guaranteed contracts like the NHL, NBA, and MLB not to mention the fact that unlike the MLB and NHL the NFL doesn't have to assemble farm teams.

Re: Updated Title: 8th Circuit Court Grants Stay, Lockout Reinstated
You can write as many letters as you want, but you are dealing with a group of men who's bottom line is money. They don't give a rats ass about the fans, just their money. They don't give a **** if you go without football, it's about a higher profit margin for them. They don't give a **** if it messes up your family outing on Sundays, just hand t hem the cash. They don't give a **** who this affects beyond their pockets.
I say the average American person is stupid, and I think the test scores worldwide back up that statement. Corporate America doesn't want intelligent people in this country because it'll ruin everything for them. They want you just smart enough to operate the machinery/PC, but dumb enough to believe the crap they shovel your direction. You want action? You want results? Cut off their lifeline. Stop giving these guys money. Stop buying the merchandise, and stop buying the tickets. The owners just sit back and laugh at all you because no matter how bad they treat you, you keep on coming back for more. This isn't meant to be insulting to anybody, just my view on this whole fiasco. The power lies in you. |

I read the above link that had the fans' conversation with Roger Goodell.
He said that he has plans to speak to the season ticket holders from all 32 clubs. When is he going to speak with the Redskins, or have I already missed that in this thread somewhere??

I'd much prefer the NFL had farm teams. Atleast the rookies would have a little more developement time. |

Haynesworth on the other hand signs a $100 million contract but when he signed it most experts were calling it a $40 million contract.
