Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
I wonder if there are people who are desperate in the draft this year who might want to take a third rounder from us for a second rounder next year. I'm all about taking the hit in one draft from RGIII. If we can swing that, then we can talk about moving back into the first next year if there's a player we really like.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
Sure, that's very Madden-esque, but the bird in the hand might be well worth it to a team this year. Not only that, we have two fourths THIS year if there's a person we'd like at the end of the third round and we move that third.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
@ TheMalcolnConnection: Bruce Allen said that having 18 picks in two drafts is very productive. The Redskins front office can't be happier with what they've accomplished in last year's draft and what they set out to do in this coming draft. There's no reason for them to dip into the second round. One third rounder, two 4ths, a 5th, 6th, and 7th is enough draft picks and excellent selections to add talent and depth can be found in everyone of those rounds in the draft. Do we really need to attempt to trade back into the second round this draft?

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
I don't think we need to move up in THIS draft, so much as I think that a third rounder this year for a second rounder next year (and maybe an additional late rounder) would be good value. I feel like this year, we can move definitely add some depth in the later rounds, but as the picks get higher, the odds of them panning out gets lower.

Updated draft hopes
Round 1 RG3 Round 2 Mike Adams OT Ohio State Round 3 Traded for 2nd round pick Round 4 Traded for 2nd round pick Round 4 Philip Blake C Blaylor Round 5 Eddie Pleasant, SS Oregon Round 6 Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma Round 7 Vontaze Burfict ILB Ariz St. UDFA: Kellen Moore, QB Boise St. I do want an explosive running back but not as much as I want to protect RGIII. We should resign Hightower, then grab our explosive RB next year.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
Vontaze Burfict was decent at Arizona St. but has had a very poor combine and a horrible pro day. Either he wasn't in shape, or he's not cut out to play in the NFL. If the Redskins draft him, I would surely be surprised.

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
Reminds me a lot about the concerns of Brandon Spikes. Is he still with the Pats? Any good? I haven't paid any attention

Re: Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft
If Burfict goes undrafted, then I wouldn't mind seeing him signed as a rookie free agent. Going undrafted may snap Burfict out of whatever has been wrong with him. But based on his berserk performances at the NFL combine and pro day, the Redskins, or no other team for that matter, should waste even as much as a 7th round draft pick on him.
