QB Prospects Thread
Quote:
I gotta go with Calia here. Any of these quarterbacks coming out could be out of the league in 4 years so give me the guy who is even in the conversation of being elite after 4 years. Not good. Elite. I would do that deal and yell no trade backs in a heartbeat. |

Re: QB Prospects Thread
While I agree that Herbert is not been elite his last 2 seasons and a bit overrated now I'd still take him with that pick every time. QBs like that are hard to find and he certainly could turn elite, just not sure he will ever be as good as the top guys but certainly good enough to make you yearly contenders.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
i would trade for Herbert in a nano second .. to bad the Chargers won't ! i know a few of you say i'm negative 😀😀 about this team but the facts are that the number 2 pick is not sure fire .. so yea i'm taking PROVEN in the NFL every time ! Herbert checks that box ! but i'm hoping the Rookie works out for us !

Also pick any player off the current roster and if you want Dan Quinn or any person off the coaching staff, feel free to take them too. Herbert is certainly worth it.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Trading Herbert would cause a dead cap hit over 100 million to the Chargers. Not gonna happen…

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Had no idea about that. Yeah, that will put an end to even a 1% chance of that happening. Lame.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Back to the pick a guy on the radio noted what I had seen as well when watching complete games. Drake Maye does not have good pocket presence. He tends to drift right into sacks, does not show that natural feel in the pocket like a guy like Romo had and I don't believe that can be coached. He also does not escape trouble the way the more athletic QBs do and of course he holds the ball too long. Nobody seems to have commented on this but his delivery is MUCH slower than Daniels as well.
I went into this firmly on the Drake Maye bus. But I now believe he has a low ceiling and I want to take a swing on someone who has a better chance of being great. I believe the team feels the same way and will draft Daniels. Last edited by Darrell Green Fan; 03-31-2024 at 11:09 AM. |

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Jayden Daniels has the highest ceiling. Higher than CW.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
plenty of people have commented on drake maye's footwork/pocket presence/slow release. Dan O and Chris simms at espn at a minimum, but there have been others too.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
For me I think you gotta go Jayden Daniels. Plenty of QBs can get out and scramble to extend plays, it seems like Maye can do that too, but Jayden can get you chunk plays with his legs. Not just like Alex Smith who would run for 7 yards on 2nd and 10. But like for 35 yards and deep into opposing territory. That and the ability to throw deep with accuracy and avoid turnover worthy plays, he looks legit to me.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
I remain comfortably seated on the JD bus. I'm not looking for a good QB or a safe pick. I'm looking to get someone who has the talent and work ethic to be truly great. I think I see that in JD.
Surely, I could be wrong but past a certain point I don't think it's wise to tie up oneself and become indecisive by trying to pick the fly shit out of the pepper. The coaches will help him correct any minor flaws. In JD I see just what I want in a modern day NFL QB and I'm hoping the Commanders brass drafts him. |
