Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Hopefully all this McC stuff is just BS but man as a long time suffering Skins fan he was a serious ray of hope in a black hole of despair. =(

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
This is really sad. I'm getting the feeling that SM's days are limited with the Redskins. How does the teams GM get "sent home??" That does not sound good to me.

Tweet from SM's wife
Jessica McCloughan @JessicaMcCloug1 @MikeJonesWaPo Mike is correct, @Russellmania621 is not. Scot was not in anyway sent home from Redskins Park. |

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
I think the Redskins probably got as much out of Scot as they had hoped to get. Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen are smart men. They knew when they hired him that it was just a matter of time before he fell off the wagon. That's because nobody can cure himself. Perhaps they asked him to go through rehab before they hired him and he refused. Of course, I don't know that but that is what alcoholics often do
They hired him anyway so they could benefit from his knowledge and skills until he could no longer function. They kept their own team of scouts in place and Scot trained them in how to run a scouting organization. I have no doubt that the Redskins are much better in the player personnel department now, even without Scot. I hope Scot is in rehab. I hope he gets better and can come back to work. If he doesn't come back, I hope he can live a happy and productive life no matter what he chooses to do for a living. I believe that Scot will leave a positive legacy with the Redskins by having taught them how to do player personnel the right way.

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Well if thats true, and it sounds like it is then we should can him ASAP.
He'll miss the combine and wont have time to properly prepare for the draft.

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
maybe . . . but the best draft we had in a long time was run by Bruce Allen with SM consulting from his ranch in Washington while he was drying out

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
I have a few staff members who I value extremely highly. If I found that one of them were relapsing into alcoholism I would definitely choose to be patient, get them the help they need, let them go on leave and try to get right.
I'd lean on my other staff in the meantime. I fully get what Allen is doing here. At the same time, if my valued staff member relapsed again after I gave the good grace? Time for the axe. This of course assumes that there's not some crazy power struggle in my office. Not sure if that's the case in Ashburn or what. But still, I get the patience. I'm not sure Bruce is being a poor manager here.

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
That all said, it's still not good to be missing the star employee at a crucial time of the year. So fingers crossed for this draft.
