Cooley is early in his media career, had access, and didn't want to jeopardize that. The team told him that Shanahan would be back. He did what anyone would do: kept all shots at the coaching staff securely in his pocket.

As to Haslett and Morris, it seemed to me that the guys who got let go were all the "Shanahan Crew" - Turner, Slowik, LeFleur, etc. All guys who were coaching b/c of Shanny - his inner circle so to speak.

Can't see Haslett staying - or Morris for that matter. I think it is going to be a clean sweep. Snyder just wanted to clear the room of Shanny's insiders.

Major problem with Haslett, besides the fact he just broke the points allowed franchise record by 46, is he is a Danny guy. Danny likes him, so keep him around. Folks 3-13, Danny doesnt get to keep "his guy" around.

The other major problem with him is that he has sucked everywhere he has ever been save for a season or two. Hes had numerous opportunities. Not sure how the hell he keeps getting jobs actually.

Bottomline, its completely unacceptable for Haslett to lead this defense next year. It makes zero sense.

Yeah to me that was very strange. How does the head coach not talk with the owner? Just out of respect you would think he would walk down the hall and talk with the man that's paying you 7 million a year. Maybe this is common around the league...

One playoff win in 14 years AFTER ELWAY, guy was a god in denver for a while, and it took them a while to cut bait, cause they finally found out that he rode Elway all the way to the bank and back a couple times. He accomplished jack shit without that guy, and the numbers, statistics as well as his tenure in DC prove it, at least to me. Game has passed this mofo by like a fukkin bullet train. He should give John Elway half of his salary for the past 4 years, cause Elway is the ONLY reason he got this fuckin job in the first place. I don't think there has ever been a more blatant case of a great QB making an average coach seem great.

Proof is in the pudding.
I think it is ridiculous to say that MS doesn't know X's and O's. He is very well respected around the league, from former players and coaches. He knows offense. It seems he has other short comings...communication, player personnel, insecurities, stubbornness and so on. But I'm not going to say he doesn't know offense.

He knows X's and O's no doubt, although it was really Kyle's show here offensively, but we needed MS to be a leader of men, and all those factors you mentioned ultimately lead to his downfall here.

It all wasn't Haslett's fault.....obviously he was not suited to run the type of defense Shanahan wanted to run. Haslett is a 4-3 defensive coordinator naturally.....if the new coach decides to retain Haslett I wouldn't be surprised....

That makes a lot of sense given other player comments we've heard.

You could say the same thing about Gibbs 2. We saw so many things during that time that we never saw Gibbs 1. Guys get older, they mellow out. This was/ is a rebuild and he wasn't the right fit. I have no doubt he can coach, it would just need to be a veteran team w/ a lot of self starters.
