Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
Yeah but that's only if a new CBA deal gets done. No deal this year and it won't matter if he got drafted or not because a lockout would happen. What if the deciding point was a rookie salary cap and they decided to table it until later because a new CBA was more important? He could still get 50 mil, although it's doubtful. The entire point is moot because he's not declaring this year anyways.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
The owners already said they could do it if they wanted to last year, and they chose not too for the sake of a bargaining chip in negotiations, I assume they won't start one this year for the same reason.

Looks like Los will test the market, said he would like to stay in wsh, but money would be a factor. I don't see him back next yr, any good CB's in FA?

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
Wow, the Bay Area fans are crushed. It's been nothing but sobing callers on KNBR eviscerating the ineptness of Jed York. Allegedly he only offered 5 million dollars. I know that would make him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL, however with all of the media hype, and the plethora of teams soliciting his services, there's no way that 5 million would of landed him in SF. Once word got out that Jed only offered 5 mill, Miami pounced and has offered 7.5-8 million a year. Epic fail by SF.

Think that Sparano is out of the Fins. Titans may keep Jeff Fisher since Vince Young is now history!

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
My offseason haiku not good enough for you? After the super bowl we can probably start an offseason thread, though much will likely be devoted to labor talk

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I guess the Niners are still alive:
RT @mortreport: After meeting w Harbaugh, source says Dolphins have decided that Tony Sparano is the best man for job. Will be retained.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I agree with the sentiment that what the Dolphins did is cheap and greedy. How are you going to look for a new head coach with a current head coach under contract, and then decide to go with the current head coach when none of the flashier names pan out? That's just a cheap move Stephen Ross. And it's extremely disrespectful to the current head coach in place. I know Sparano hasn't wowed anybody since his first season at the helm, but if you are going to look for a new head coach, you need to do the right thing and let your current coach go. Don't be like, oh we can't find a better one, so we're just going to stick with you. I'd be pissed if I was Sparano, but it's not like he can quit because then he'll lose his salary and I doubt he wants that.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
Right. After Cowher, Gruden, and Harbaugh all turned down at least $7 million a year they decided Sparano was the best fit. Sure. Fins problem is they wouldn't give any of those guys control over personnel. Ireland would still be in charge, for those 3 guys control is as important as the money. Meanwhile Harbaugh has a better offer from Stanford than San Fran. Don't know about Denver
