The win at Philly wasn't convincing but hell how many are ... It would be nice to see us start hands-down beating some people by dominating them in every facet of the game though.

Eagles - 24
Redskins - 17
Last time I checked when Vick was on the field all I saw was 3 and out. Just a quick reminder Vick scored 0 points on us in the first game. it was kolb that made it a game.

Re: Its Fu**ing Eagles Week!!!!

Honestly, this is the way I see it,in comparing the two between Vick and Kolb against our Defense and from last game.

1)When Vick is starting, their ability for the BIG play goes way up,whether it's a long pass from Vicks big arm to Maclin or Jackson or whoever. However, their productivity goes down. You're more likely to see 3 & outs, much less running the ball because of Vicks great running ability & BIG arm. This in turns makes them 1-dimensional as picking a Defense to stop this kind of attack because of lack of attentions on any running plays between the tackle or outside. Although Vick has not thrown an INT to date,he's prone to getting injured, fumbling and making bad throws every so often.SUMMARY: If you limit the big plays by Vick from his long bombs and huge runs from scrambles, while putting some king of pressure on him to make him uncomfortable in the pocket...you have a good chance of him making a bad throw and costly mistake. With Vick in the game, they focus so much on watching him make plays or putting him in position to make big plays, that they get away from the easy fundamentals of just trying to move the ball consistently and getting any kind of points on the board to win the game. It's not so much you have to stop Michael Vick, but Vick is somewhat like they used to game plan for Barry Sanders...you won't stop him...you just need to contain him.If you do that, you beat them.

2)When Kolb is starting, their ability for the BIG play, goes way down. However,Kolb gives them more of a balance on Offense and more efficient one. The team focuses more on distributing the ball to all weapons and getting 1st downs.Although Kolb doesn't have Vicks rare ability,he does offer a little mobility but less of the arm downfield. So the team uses a more balance of runs, screens and dump offs to gain 1st downs. This in turn makes any playaction way more affective because of the style of play,so they are likely to catch a defense sleeping from all the short passes, than when Vick is in the game.Kolb however is prone to more sacks and relies on his passing accuracy to be affective. If he's not on his game, then it stalls an Offense with good weapons and forces the team to run the ball, which is what they do not want to do. But when Kolb is accurate and playing well, there's no doubt, that their offense is more tougher to stop because of the amount of weapons they have and their ability to spread the ball around. Kolb also takes less risks than Vick...Kolb may not have the talent that Vick possesses, but he's more likely to keep your team closer in a game, towards the end of the game, but less likely to blow a team out of the water as well because of the clock he uses in games when running an offense.SUMMARY: Although Vick is a much better pure athlete than Kolb,Kolb actually presents more of a problem to the Washington Redskins than Michael Vick. The reason is because the Redskins have not had the ability to blow a team out of the water on any level against anybody, but they have also been able to stay close against any team,no matter how explosive that teams Offense is. The Redskins also have used great Defensive plays off turnovers and Special teams plays to keep them alive in such tough matchups. So the best way to beat a Redskins team is good efficient play at the QB position and not some superhero, trying to make a big play everytime he steps on the field. It's why manning was able to win with No INT's,it's why Bradford was able to win in his game with the way he sustained long affective drives and why Stafford was able to win in his game against a Redskins Defense. It's also why Green Bay lost on a Rodgers late game INT to Landry and Cutler throwing darts to D.Hall. So all in all......Yea,Vick may offer the big play for philly, but he's also more likely to make a costly mistake, that keeps the redskins in the game and able to win. He's also more likely to be frustrated and play terrible in a Redskins Blowout as well. This doesn't happen with Kolb. So all in all.....I'm actually glad,we are facing Vick instead of Kolb!

and this is my report on this thing...
(sorry for any mis-spelling...That's a lot of typing)

Not so fast... On their last drive of the 1st Quarter, Vick drove the entire field from their 26 down to our 1 yard line. The ball was moved back to our 34 due to O-penalty but, its obvious Vick was starting to read the D.

Again, you skew things through your half empty view. Vick drove them down to our 34. His run that got him hurt, while excellent, was NEGATED by that penalty, and if you watch the play, the hold kept our player from getting a hand on Vick. I don't know how the drive would have finished, but you can't legitimately say he drove them down to the 1, because it wouldn't have counted even if he had not got hurt.

Maybe he was beginning too. I dunno, neither do you. You assume he was, I assume the facts in evidence, he hadn't scored yet against us, and Kolb played a different style game (as Ace did a good job explaining) that we had not game-planned for.

We won. Tomorrow is a new game. I hope we win that one too, regardless of who their qb is.

Re: Its Fu**ing Eagles Week!!!!

To highlight:
Quote:
(Shotgun) M.Vick scrambles up the middle to WAS 1 for 23 yards (D.Hall; K.Moore). PHI-M.Vick was injured during the play. His return is Questionable. PENALTY on PHI-M.Jean-Gilles, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at WAS 24 - No Play.

Lets just say he brought them from his 26 to our 24 then. Thats more than 3 and out all day long. I think you get the picture. But you like to argue with me for whatever reason and accuse me of having a half empty view. You want to believe that the Skins can beat the Eagles without having to score more than 3 points in 3 quarters with Vick in the whole game, you want to believe that our D can hold Vick to 0 points in a game, then enjoy your full glass of Koolaid bro.

You obviously like Ace's explanation, Maybe we should keep our 2nd QB in and confuse the Eagles defense tomorrow. Give me a break!

Ace do you really believe what you wrote?

Do you think that any coach would choose to have an offense based solely on the big play without efficiency?

You don't think maybe just maybe Vick is playing better then Kolb and gives the Eagles the best chance to win? (I mean don't look now but Vick is top 5 QB in the league i think he has the highest QB rating in the league; a rating which btw favors efficiency)

You don't have to be down on Vick's ability to believe that we can still win the game.

Yes,I do...
And if I am close to being correct with my theory, then Monday Nights game will be our biggest margin of Victory for the season to date.

lol..Course,that won't take much since that number is 6 pt's in game 1 vs dallas.

I will just say this...if Vick actually plays the whole game, the Skins win by 10 pts or more. Something we haven't done all season.

(I would not say this, if Kolb was starting however)
Actually...I think we lose if Kolb starts..but Shhhh, don't tell anybody.

You think a theory in football can be proved right or wrong based off of 1 game?
There are so many other factors that go into winning and losing outside of QB play.

BTW- How can you explain Reid's choice of Vick over Kolb?
or how do you explain Vick being one of the top QB's in the league by QB rating?

(I wish their was a stat that measured only QBs passing and rushing numbers on 3rd down.
B/c i'm quite sure Vick converts more 3rd downs then most QB's in the league that alone puts him near the tops of QB efficiency.)

But i digress, i would like to hear the answers to the above question though.

I guess I don't like the concept of slamming a team for a close win, that's all. Pitt lost today even though they scored 26 points. Yes I want to see our team have a more effective offense. Yes I want to see games that are put away and done by the third quarter. Yes I know we are not top grade NFL caliber. But the team has played hard nose football in every contest (I just ignore the rams game ciz I hate them now ;-) ) and it deserves credits for the Ws it has on the books. I think we are going to have a tough time tomorrow night and if the offense doesn't do better I doubt we will hold the eagles in check. But could we, possibly, and then at the end of the 4th qtr I may be watching Avant actually catch the game winner. But for now, we are 1-0 against the eagles and I will enjoy that.

As a side note, I just take issue with the whole keeping it real motif, and those type comments tend to get me in an argumentative state. And also, my koolaid is just fine.

Done and done

A Monday night game after a bye week of a 4-4 team has got to be one of the most gruelling endurance tests known to man. Especially on a week that kicked off last Thursday!
