Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
If Detroit gets AH, it's a lock that they take Okung and we lose him.
Bad deal for us unless we can swap the #2 and #4 picks in the deal.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
If Detroit takes Okung, it could be possibe a trade is brewing. I do not think they would trade 2-2nd rounders, but a 2nd this year along with a conditional pick next year. I would be ok if we got Suh and Saffold along with a 3rd next year. Saffold/Suh are both plug-n-play, and now is a good time to accumulate picks for next year.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
not really. trent williams is a better fit for us. i'm actually hoping Detroit takes Okung as they'd be taking a player we dont need, and, at the same time, increasing the likelyhood that were able to trade down.

I have a feeling because Okung has been so built as the best tackle and a foregone pick for the Redskins, many will fly of the hinges if don't draft him. |

If we take a player that we really need for the position, I'll trust Bruce Allen and Shanny, as long as we can address OT somehow.

Okung kept defenders about 3 or 4 yards away from the QB while Williams would stop guys but they'd be about 1 or 2 yards away from the QB. Again if you're a player you're happy with the 1 or 2 yard separation but in a toss up it's no doubt that Okung is the better player. And finally during the great QB vs O-Line debates I never saw someone randomly type WILLIAMSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! rather it was always some guy randomly showing up typing nothing but "OKUNGGGGGGGG!!!!!!"

If we trade back and remain in the top 10-12 in the draft, we can probably come out with a left tackle. if we trade back any further, we're proably going to get a right tackle - but accumulate more picks in the draft. At this point, i favor the later option. I'd be very happy if we traded down to the lower part of the 1st round, picked up a 2nd rounder this year and next, drafted Mike Iupati to play RT (potential to play LT down the road) and then picked up Flozell Adams after the draft. The guy can still play at a high level and would be fine for a year or two. Or, we could use one of our newly acquired 2nd rounders and trade for Jamaal Brown.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
I've said pretty consistently I believe since February that I think Williams is the guy we're really targeting. Not based on anything other than he seems to fit so much with what Shanahan looks for (versatile, athletic, greater upside, even the fact that he's a bit of a risk I think appeals to Shanny).
I think ideally though they get Williams later in the draft, not at 4. I think if we're stuck at 4 and if it's Williams vs. Okung at #4 they should go with Okung. He's the surer (more sure?) thing. And at #4 I want the sure thing. Williams has tremendous upside, but that also means he has huge bust potential. But if we can trade down and pick up Williams plus another player, I'll take that over Okung at 4. I don't think Okung is head and shoulders above the rest of the OLs in this draft class.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
I personally don't think Trent Williams is a good pick in the top 10. He was a solid RT for 3 years, but could not supplant Phil Loadholt as LT. Loadholt was a far superior LT then Williams was, and Loadholt can't play LT for the Vikings. They had to move him to RT where he is much stronger. Williams also has mental lapses, and his commitment has been called to question. He whiffed on the sack that put Bradford on the shelf, and his game tapes this year were mediocre according to most scouts. He looks like he will be a much better RT in the league, and he is one of those guys that a big contract might be worrisome.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
Williams is the riskier pick, bigger upside perhaps, but Okung is ready to step in and play right now. I really think he could be Samuels part II.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
With Samuels serving as the Redskins "draft runner" this year he may actually get to, in a way, officially pass the torch if Okung's name is called (or any OT's for that matter)

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
Samuels to Okung works for me, from one perennial pro-bowler to another(hopefully).

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
Does anyone really doubt that Flozell Adams will be on the team a week from now?
