I just love how people think we can just show up and beat Detroit. Same thing people said about last night too. Did anyone happen to catch Oakland? They very easily could have beaten Indy at Indy. One game at a time people.

People keep hounding the defense, but here is something to note. Shortly into the third quarter, the time of possession was 22 minutes (philly) compared to our measly 9 mins. Another useful stat is our third down conversion, which was a horrible 2-10 along with the 3 turnovers. I'm sorry, but you can't keep putting the defense in absolute horrible situations for that long and not expect them to break. No defense is going to hold up to that. Well, none that aren't the mid 2000's Ravens or Bucs. Notice how when our offense started clicking, our defense started to hold their offense down. That said, there is absolutely NO excuse for all those missed tackles. That's basic football right there and something taught at the pee wee level. Our LBs are still horrible in coverage as well.

Sustaining drives. This is our biggest issue, and much of it has to do with stupid ass penalties. Make a great play? Guess what, it's negated because somebody wanted to hold. Hey, that 15 yard catch? No good, illegal motion. Third and short? Nope, lets move back another 5 yards for off-sides. The list goes on and on about how we shoot ourselves in the foot time and time again. We aren't going to be contending with anybody until that gets fixed. If it doesn't, don't expect this team to go far.

Tackling around the league was just horrible in week 1. Teams don't hit much anymore in practice so it's to be expected. I think we'll start to see improvement in that area in weeks 2 and 3.

Yeah that's why I'm questioning whether they can hold up all year at that pace. More plays = more possibilities of injuries, and Chip's pass pro schemes seems to leave the QB open for some big hits. Once there's more tape on this offense I think defenses are going to blitz more and more.

Quick observation, we scored 27 points yesterday which was the lowest total of our division, everyone else hit at least 30. Remember when the East was all about tough defenses? Its a shoot out division folks.

Plenty of blame to go around. The offense stunk for most of the game and so did the defense and so did the coaches. And not buying the.."we didn't have any tape of their offense"...um did the coaches watch Oregon at all? No excuses....they were clearly the better team last night.

There were a lot of things that didn't go out way on offense. Fumbles, drops, ints and penalties. The good news is I believe all that can be cleaned up.

It sucks to have your first real offensive drive in the 3rd quarter. And it's very hard to win in those sorts of circumstances.

I think the whole illegal hits issue would diminish if teams would teach players to wrap up and take down when making tackles. I saw our young DBs way too many times yesterday throwing themselves without any attempt at wrapping up the player that they were tackling.

If not, what is different that might have caused this issue? And those things are what I came up with. I know it's important to rest the starting running back during preseason, but it shouldn't be at the expense of being off in the first game of the regular season. There must be a number of preseason snaps that's balanced enough to be sharp enough and to also allow for fresh legs and season/career longevity.

I also believe that this team needs to be taken back from the media. The team can't always be held accountable to the media. Do what's best for the team (and fans) and start ignoring the criticism from outsiders, especially the media.
Not this

I will say, some of our fans had no rust whatsoever in the first game. They were in true form the first half of our season opener. Bailing ship and doing their best Bill "game over man" Paxton impersonation.

So you are telling me that was the exact same plays and offense he had at Oregon? No variation whatsoever? If so, it nullifies your statement.

Yea I think we might have one of the worst home field advantages in the NFL.

The concepts were there, Fletcher said it wasn't anything they haven't seen before. I'm not buying that as an excuse. We simply didn't tackle well and blew too many assignments.

Yup. My seats are right next to the visitors tunnel in the corner of the endzone. Skins fans started leaving at halftime!! Eagles fans started to pour down to get closer to the action and see the Eagles at the end. Even Marcus Vick was there, it made me sick!
