Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!

Doughty needs to be benched. I said before as far as experieinc Doughty should have played but as far as athleticsm Horton should have played. Point made. When we are going against a team who is primarily a running team we should use Doughty. A team with more of a passing attack. We should use Horton because of his speed and he is better in coverage. Honestly I think Horton is good coming up for the run too. Saying that experience aint ish unless you can make plays and not be a liability. Horton should start for the rest of the season. Definitely next week.

The SS position will be the X-factor against the Cow-chicks

Honestly I think it is nice we have two guys that we can use at SS that are both effective. Most teams would die for that.

I think that's a good point that's getting lost in this silly debate. Rather than picking sides let's just be happy that we have depth at the position. Horton appears to be a promising player, but I think Doughty will still play an important role.

good call man. whose to say horton would not have given up a big pass play when going against the likes of boldin and fitzgerald or that zona would not have heavily targeted him if he was starting.

doughty is our weakest link on D but thats more a testament to our solid group and not a knock on him. doughty is serviceable to solid, decent to good. i see the horton/doughty discussion much like heyer/jansen; all are solid and pretty much interchangeable right now which is a good thing, especially yesterday when heyer went down for alil and jansen stepped in and we didnt miss a beat.

go skins!

Is Doughty the only player in the league to get beat by Fitzgerald? I'm glad we have these guys.

Wasn't Doughty the guy who forced that fumble on Edgerrin James? When I saw that, I thought about this thread immediately.

I had thought the same thing. BALLHAWK! ... But I believe it was McIntosh that caused that fumble. At least that's who got credit for it.

Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!

I did not have internet on Sunday and I wondered if there was going to be talk of Doughty getting burned deep. It was painful to watch, his angle was all wrong.
I think it is time to make the change to Horton. Horton has earned the starting role by his play on the field this preseason and last weeks game. Another thing to keep in mind, Doughty has not set the world on fire in order to keep the starter position either. Everyone likes Doughty, he looks like my frat brother, but that is not reason to keep him as the starter when Horton has been playing noticeably better.Horton has earned the starteps role and Doughty has not.

Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!

Horton's time will come, in the meantime I think Doughty is still an important part of the D. I think people are so caught up in the Horton hype, and are so down on Doughty no matter what he does, that every mistake Doughty makes is magnified. Chill with the Doughty hate.
