Re: Pimp That Product

Rib steak thread mentioned bacon. And I recently found and fell in love with bacon from Benton’s Smoky Mountain Country Hams. A buddy of mine introduced me to this awesome bacon, and when my family and I went down to see my Wife's Dad in Tennessee, we stopped by to get some. Then when he came up for Christmas, my present was 20 lbs of this swine-tacular delicacy. It puts any other bacon I've ever had to shame.

Here's a short (9 minute documentary) on Allan Benton and his products:

It's a 4 lb minimum on mail order, and they are at 4-6 week turnaround right now, but it's well worth it.

In reality, it's a very high-quality, well made, heavy little frying pan. You season it with vegetable oil once before the first use like you would a cast iron skillet.

NOTHING sticks. If you would burn something, just run some water on it and give it a flick with the spatula and it's clean. The coating is amazing for cooking. I use it all of the time now and cleanup takes seconds...I run some water into it, add a squirt of dish soap and wipe it out with sponge or sometimes all it needs is a rinse and it's clean. I've used it about 20 times now and it looks brand new, not a scratch or stain.

It really is the perfect pan...for just $20.

Get one. Seriously.

Orgreenic™ 10' Fry Pan - Bed Bath & Beyond

The people complaining about sticking must not have prepped it right. Nothing sticks.

There's one review saying it scratched with the use of a fork. Well, yeah. You don't use metal in ANY nonstick pan... Wooden or plastic spatulas only.

I hope they make a bigger one or better yet, a square skillet.

Got a 10-piece set for Christmas, all different sizes. It's amazing. Seriously...get these pans.

Still missing a square skillet though.

edit: They make one! I must buy.

saw these on shark tank, it's a cool idea but they're getting shit reviews. if they can fully deliver on this concept, i would definitely be in the market. i drink hot tea on the way to work and can't really take large sips/gulps until about 30-40 minutes into my commute.

Re: Pimp That Product

So what, they're like those re-usable ice cubes?

Usually in the morning I'll shower and then go fill my coffee cup. By the time I shave and get dressed, it's the perfect temp. If I'm in a rush and need to chug a cup, I'll just drop an ice cube in.

How big are those bean things? They look like they could easily slide down your throat.

Ice cubes work fine for me too. One or two usually does the trick without watering down my coffee too bad.

Re: Pimp That Product

the cool part, for me, was that they can keep it at 140° for 4/5 hours.
again, the reviews do not reflect their claims, but they say it:

cools your drink down to 140° in minutes - won't be too hot
and
keeps your drink at 140° for hours - won't be too cool

Re: Pimp That Product

Sounds like a bunch of fantasy claims you'd hear on an infomercial.

You drop these in your coffee and it doesn't cool off?

Heck, lets dump a bunch of these in the ocean. Global warming is solved.

Volcano about to erupt? Throw a bunch of these fancy coffee beans into it. Crisis averted.

I bet these things could stop Iran's nukes when they finally get here too.

Amazing.

Saw that Shark Tank as well. Seemed cool I think Cuban gave them a deal.

Re: Pimp That Product

Bought a new house; like brand new.

I need a washer and dryer and a fridge...

any suggestions? I want spend about 1500 to 2000 on a washer and dryer and 2000 to 3000 on the fridge. Like the fridge to be a french door style with freezer on bottom.

And all it took was an infomercial.
