Our publice education system is a mess. We spend a ridiculous amount per child, yet are in the middle world-wide in performance. More federal programs and expansion of the DoEd isn't the answer. Reduce federal programs/requirements/regulations, send grants to states, allow title 1 dollars to attch to student not school.

Ask yourself this question, why do private schools educate their students better than public schools with less cost-per-student.

They don't.Reduce Federal programs ??? Public schools are all ready doing without, arts, phys Ed,music...etc,now you want to take what is left ...what is that lunch,in some place's the only meal of the day for kids..grants to the state and not the school ,so the schools in the really nice areas....that can afford their public education ,take from the ones that can't?
Requirments/regulations ,...like what ?You say "We spend a ridiculous amount per child, like howmuch and why do you think it's rediculous?Just seems funny that this wasn't an issue under G.Bush but now it's Obama's fault?

Never said this wasn't an issue under Bush. NCLB was a well-intentioned attempt that hasn't produced results, it really only forced statewide testing requirements and teaching towards testing standards.

Schools only receive about 12% or so of all funding from the fed. All I'm saying is rather than push regs down on states, just give them grants to administer education that works best in each state.

Just do some quick research on the amounts spent per child in the U.S. In many places it is far more than the amount to send a child to a private school.

You've got to stop believing all the garbage labels that Dems/libs throw at GOP/conservatives. We aren't the "evil rich" or "clinging to our guns/bibles". We want the best for everyone is the U.S. We just believe giving more money to the fed isn't the answer, and history shows we're right (look at Europe and our National Debt).

In other GOP news:

Missouri Republican claims ‘legitimate rape’ rarely results in pregnancy – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

You didn't get this sort of bat shit crazy back in the days, so what the hell happened?

Quote:
"First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," Akin said of rape-induced pregnancy in an interview with KTVI. A clip of the interview was posted online by the liberal super PAC American Bridge.

"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," Akin continued. He did not provide an explanation for what constituted "legitimate rape."

He added: "But let's assume that maybe that didn't work or something. You know I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."

In a statement Sunday, Akin wrote that he misspoke in the interview. He maintained his opposition to abortion for victims of rape.

Here is another facepalm:

Quote:
Akin - who sits on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee - has long held a hard-line stance on abortion.
This dude is on a science committee talking stupid shit like this?...lol

Asshat is claiming to "misspoke" yet still is against abortions for rape victims? OBVIOUSLY YOU DIDN"T MISSPEAK YOU DUMMY!

I actually sort of applaud the guy. Not because I necessarily agree with his position but because if you're going to be against abortion you really have to be against all abortion. Oh and the death penalty too. This non-sense where people purport to be anti-abortion except in cases of rape and/or incest baffles me. I mean if your stance is that life is life at conception then the nature of the situation resulting in conception should be irrelevant in your mind. Right?

I think you missed the biggest part of all this.

Nothing to applaud this guy about one bit. Stupidity is stupidity.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)

Flip: Kudos to Romney condemning the stupidity

Romney calls Akin’s rape comment ‘insulting’ and ‘inexcusable’ | The Ticket - Yahoo! News

Flop: Boo to Romney for being "delighted" to support abortion (even for rape) back in 2007.

Mitt Romney Said In 2007 He Would Be "Delighted" To Sign A Bill Banning All Abortions Nationally

You can't have the Flip with Romney, without having the Flop to go along. He doesn't just stand for anything, he stands for nothing....lol

There is nothing to applaud about this guy. It's one thing to be against abortion and back it with your beliefs but it's another to be a member of House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and say dumb shit like:

Quote:
If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.
Maybe a scientific experiment on rape and pregnancy should be conducted using his daughter as a test subject.

MO Senate race went from a GOP slam dunk to a hail merry pass. I can't wait for the polls.

The only hope for the GOP is for this fool to withdraw and have a replacement named by 5pm tomorrow.

This moron was on Hannity this afternoon. Hannity threw this guy several life-preservers and he still couldn't muster a rational thought or defense of what he said (not that there is any). Then this clown starts to tell Hannity he's staying in the race.....Hannity essentially told him he could cost the GOP the Senate seat and possibly lose MO for Romney if he stays in. He backed off a little and I suspect before tomorrow at 5pm he'll bow out.

This guy just might be stupid enough to stay in the race and it looks like the moneyman, Karl Rove, has pulled all resource from MO race. It's looking pretty ugly right now and the sharks are circling, as they should. Nibble nibble.
