Fletcher to HOF?

I don't see how he won't eventually make it despite never making the pro bowl as anything other than an alternate. Since tackles have been a statistic in 2001, London leads the all time NFL in tackles (beating ray lewis by 266 tackles). Since that time period, he also has more sacks than Ray, and more forced fumbles. He has been great in coverage as he has 18 career picks, he is a great leader/captain, and the cherry on top is he won the walter payton man of the year award. I can't say this for sure, but I'm pretty sure he has always lead his team in tackles every year since he's been in the NFL.

Re: Fletcher to HOF?

Is he retiring?

I think Fletch will end up with a Hall of Fame career, but he may be overshadowed by Ray Lewis, but who knows.

He is going to be another Art Monk when it comes to the Hall Of Fame. He first has to retire.

One of the first stats they are going to look at is number of Pro Bowls. I am willing to bet you won't see a modern era player go into the HOF with only 1 trip to HI.

Never said he was retiring, I just saw his stats, it blew my mind and I did some research. Nobody has produced like he has over the time that he has. Ray Ray is the only ILB on his level from a career productivity standpoint that remains in the NFL today.

Alt is not something that is not really looked at. Don't shoot the messenger.

The Redskins should pray that London Fletcher plays 3 more years in DC.

However, if that happens and he retires after those three more seasons, your timetable has him as a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee. That is HIGHLY unlikely - - but he will probably get in eventually.

Re: Fletcher to HOF?

I think he gets stuck in the Hall of Very Good. Sportswriters who make the decision often consider if a player was one of the best at their position during their era. I think, fairly or unfairly, he will be ranked below Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis and Brian Urlacher when compared to his peers. Not that I agree with that, but I can easily see that keeping him from the Hall.

Hall of very good!

The plumb-line is whether a team gameplans around an opponent. I don't think any other team gameplans around LF, if truth be told.

Re: Fletcher to HOF?

The fact that he is still a free agent shows the reason he will not make the HOF.

Pro-bowl isn't the defining skill level of a player. DeAngelo Hall was voted in the pro-bowl and was the pro-bowl MVP two years ago, yet he ranked the 3rd worst CB in the league that same year. This is a fan/popularity event.

Now, "All-Pro" is a different story.

I agree, he's good but not HoF material. If he's gonna keep playing in DC he's gonna do it cheap because there is zero interest for him elsewhere.
