Immortality, anyone?
Yet another interesting article.
Would anyone on this forum want to be immortal? Yeah, I know, it would make a post count pointless and I'm sure SS would ban me after the first few Centuries of annoyance. British scientists have found that a species of flatworm can overcome the process of ageing to become potentially immortal and say their work sheds light on possibilities of alleviating ageing and age-related characteristics in human cells. In a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal on Monday the researchers found that the flatworms, known as planarian worms, can continuously maintain the length of a crucial part of their DNA, known as telomeres, during regeneration. I was ok with the vampire (Blade, not bloody Twilight) thing, getting bitten, flouncing around in designer clothes, staying up all night but an earthworm? Asexual? Where's the fun in that? |

Re: Immortality, anyone?
My grandmother is 97 years old. She will freely say to you there is not much left living for but food and the occasional visit from family. She has seen two of her three sons die; only my dad is left for her. she lived through my grandfathers death.
Honestly I am pretty good to 80 then you can send me packing, I hate to out live my children that be the worst part. A planet without my kids is not one I would want to live on.
