If McCoy sneaks into the first round he is probably being taken by a good team who already has a QB. My guess is that McCoy doesn't see the field in 10. If he is playing in 11 he is making all the stupid rookie mistakes that all first year QB's make.

GTripp has been against this before it even happened and is just being consistent. At this point he seems a lot like Sysyphus because McNabb is here and Jason will be gone.

Mike Shanahan knows more about offensive football than all of us, more than anyone that any of us have talked to and more than any of the "experts" in the national media. McNabb is the Mastermind's guy and in Mike Shanahan I trust.

Now that QB is off the list of needs, let's fix that O-line.

I agree. Fix the line and get him a new toy or two.

LOL Whatever you say, man. ha ha hah ahahaha haha I needed that.

Btw it is being reported that this wasn't Reid's deal, that he wanted to keep McNabb over Kolb.

Yeah, the guy who passes over 70% of the time and has never fixed his short yardage problems is greater than the two time Super Bowl winner and the guy who can take guys off the street and turn them into 1500 yard rushers.

Andy Reid has never put enough stock in running the football and that is why he has no rings.

GTripp, your heavy bias against this deal is hurting the normal quality of your posts.

I have not talked to anyone who would be emotionally invested in either side, outside of people on TheWarpath this morning. The arguments I keep reading here are that we're a lot better today, and that we didn't give up all that much. Both of those arguments are demonstrably false, and I thought Joyner's article showed as much, even if I believe a lot of his statistics (and by extension analysis) are arbitrary. I can do an analysis that makes Skins come out a little bit better, but ultimately, his 273 yard figure is a pretty darn good estimate of an expected production increase. It's hardly guarenteed that we'll get an increase at all.

I'd like to hear someone make the argument that just a small increase in production can go a long way. To me, trying to argue that we've fallen into this great upgrade is being disingenuous to ourselves. Let's focus on possible reason that this upgrade is better than it appears on paper. I don't see that, but I could be overlooking something.
The stat I see going up is scoring in the red zone. I don't care if he get more yards then JC but I see scoring going up because he will thread a ball into a WR where JC would throw it away or take a sack. I also don't think we need to add any new toys for him to throw to just need a line. McNabb find guys open that JC dreamed of finding and will make all our WRs better.

Also, not sure who your "sources" are but if they're guys who analyze stats and have no playing/coaching/scouting experience at any level, their opinions are just like everyone elses.....opinions. Not saying you have to play/coach/scout to have an informed opinion, but it gives a perspective media and stats guys don't necessarily have.

I'll take the opinion of MS, KS, and Bruce Allen over them any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I also respect Jaws' analysis, here's what he said: "Donovan knows how to win football games. The Redskins’ confidence level has to be going through the roof right now." — Former Eagles QB Ron Jaworski, now an ESPN analyst.
Faith, faith, faith, trust the process, faith.

I went to the people who could give me the most substantial analysis the quickest. Most were media-types, though not newspaper columnists. Two were just people I have worked with in the past (at MVN). They are all good sources of football knowledge, as I would hope they would say the same about me.

What we gave up for McNabb is what changed my mind. I didn't even really pay attention to the rumors while it was going on because I felt that the price would be too high (a #1 +) and that the Iggles would never trade McNabb in division. Getting McNabb (a top tier QB) for a 2nd & 3 or 4th next year, not a bad deal when we have a MAJOR need at QB. If DM is productive for 3-4 years it's a good deal. If he's packaged in some sort of trade and we come out of the draft with 2 starting quality OL and one of the top two QBs, it's a good deal.

Let's say we stood pat, lucked out and got Okung at #4 and then McCoy at # 37. Do you think we're a better team for the next 3 years with McNabb or McCoy? You'll say McCoy, but you'll be in the vast minority.

The problem in 2009 was getting to the red zone. Campbell did just fine when he was there, he just wasn't there very much.

Yes, correct no arugement here. But I was thinking along the lines of the strength of schedule for the 2010 season.

You have to admit, the games that were lost by 3 points or less in 2009 were from what most would consider, below average teams.

2010: Packers, Vikings, Saints, Colts, Titans that is a tough stretch of better quality opponents.

Again, McNabb makes the Redskins a better team in 2010, but I do not think 6 or 7 wins better.

I don't think McNabb will be here in 2012, and I don't think there will be football next season. Keep both of those things in mind if you want my 3+ years analysis.

Tripp, normally I would agree with you, but I would have to disagree here in regards to Reid and the McNabb trade. Reid appears like he didn't want to get rid of McNabb. Did you see the presser? Reid looked like a hostage in a ransom video.

I'll take the guy who managed to get mediocre players like Plummer, Lelie, and Bell "high-level" statistical performances and helped an old Elway produce more TDs in a season more consistently than a younger Elway over the dude who can't stick to the run when he has to.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

First of all, Reid is not > Shanahan.

Secondly, I don't beleive for one second that Reid wanted to trade McNabb to anyone, let alone us. I think this trade is a clear indication that Reid has lost tremendous power within the organization and I think he's out if the Eagles don't go to the superbowl this season.

Sorry but your statement doesn't hold up very well.
I accept your rebuttle re: McNabb =! Delhomme.

Delhomme is closer to McNabb though than McNabb is close to the Brees/Rivers/Brady/Manning/Manning category. Those guys play 16 games pretty much every season. McNabb hardly ever does. In that way, he's similar to Delhomme in terms of age decline.

But I'm not expecting a McNabb meltdown this year. Just pointing out: it's coming sooner rather than later.
