Hey I love Orakpo, but Cutler and Shannahan would have been a match made in heaven. Don't count Cutler out, yet.

How many playoff games did they go to together in Denver? Or are you talking about Kyle?

Ah the joy of being an NFL QB. Everything goes right you get all the credit. Something goes wrong and the blame falls squarely on you.

The response I made was to the remark of Cutler and Shanahan being a match made in heaven. Certainly the QB and coach have some impact of whether the team goes to the playoffs or not. Do you disagree? I don't see how they're thought of as a match made in heaven. Based on what? His 37 INT's or their 17-20 record together?

Shanahan the GM got in the way of Shanahan the coach because he had a crappy D and was too loyal to Slowik the D-coordinator. Denver had one of the best O's in the league in 2008, but Peyton Hillis was the last "super-effective" RB they had before they began running on empty and finished 8-8. But yeah, a match made in heaven is total hyperbole.

Oh I agree with you. The defense totally sucked and Shanahans loyalty cost him his job. But yeah, the "match made in heaven" is what I found a little over the top.

Still there's no tell what the outcome would have been. Cutler playing behind our shitty line would probably have been no good (definitely would have thrown more INTs). And let's say he would have played decently, now we would be one Pro Bowler LB short (Orakpo) and one CB (Barnes).

I think he would have had less INTs because he would have been on his back twice as much.

We also would have been without the 4th pick this year.

Like I said, the Cutler deal was idiotic.
