Funny - I forgot to weigh in on this one.

When I was kid I always dreamed of playing cornerback for the Denver Broncos. It had something to do with Louis Wright, for those of you who remember him. He was a very good, if not great, CB. The whole Orange Crush thing was popular back then too.

Now..in my old age...I think I would much rather be an amazing musician. Like Jimmie Hendrix amazing or Prince amazing. Oh, did I mention I wanted to play the guitar?

I'd go musician, I'd love to be an elite guitar player or some other role in a band. The money is incredible if you hit it big, there's no concern of injury, sure you gotta worry about the drugs and whatnot but if you feel strongly enough about them you can easily stay away from them. Besides your job would be doing something you love, that's easy and comes to you, for lots of money and other rewards.

If I had to choose, it would be athlete. I'd play baseball, although if I ever get in good enough shape, I'd always thought about trying out to be the next Tim Wakefield. I threw a mean knuckleball in little league and high school...

If musician came calling, I'd want to be a drummer.

Tough call. If I could be a Hall of Fame QB who plays 10 years for the Skins and I won 3-4 Super Bowls, I'd take that.

This really is a tough call.

I think I might have to go with being a really good pitcher. I'd love to be able to throw a nasty cutter.

I've been weighing both sides since I first posted and I'm not really sure.
Probably closer, just so I could make a dramatic entrance from the bullpen.

It's all about the entrance.

When I lived in San Diego and went to a few Padres games, they would play "Wild Thing"...no, it was "Hells Bells" when Trevor Hoffman came out of the bullpen. The Stadium would get pumped.

I think Wild Thing is from that movie with Charlie Sheen?

Re: Would you rather be a musician or an athlete?

This is a great post for me...seeing as how this was the decision I had to make coming out of high school. Knowing that my size was going to be a problem in college football, I decided to go 100% in music and have spent almost 10 years out of the 15 since college doing it. My band came really close to signing a deal with Atlantic Records, but during the process, the AR guy that really liked us got canned due to downsizing. And having just moved from Nashville, what I learned there was...you can be a great singer, or great musician....but really all that matters is who you know or how much $$$ you have. Perfect example, Taylor Swift...the country teenie bopper that's tearing up the charts....her parents bought the majority shares in the label and gave her a deal. Don't go see her live, she's horrible.

Here's the thing, you can make a living (maybe not a great one) playing music...at any level, but with sports, past the college level, unless you're really amazing, that's it. BUT even knowing that, if I had it to do over again, I would've worked a lot harder starting around 8th grade to become a better athlete.

I'd definately be a starting pitcher in the MLB.

I'm not sure I'd even enjoy being a rock star.

Major League...

Entrance Music is important for a closer. Mariano Rivera had his picked out for him (Metallica - Enter Sandman), and along with Hells Bells are the 2 most popular entrances. John Smoltz used AC/DC - Thunderstruck when he was the closer in Atlanta. Eckersley and Goose Gossage used George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone. Gagne uses Welcome to the Jungle.

AMD's Theme Music would probably be ABBA's Fernando...

Is that true about Taylor Swift? That's interesting. I had no idea
