If you want to settle for mediocrity hire Fassel, Billick, Marty, Dennis Green, Jim Mora sr. We might as well get used to it, because we'll look like the Eagles. I hope I'm wrong and eat my words, but I got a feeling I'll be saying I told you so. I'll judge Fassel on his first 5 games, if he screws up there will be no mercy from me or other fans who oppose the move.

It'll save Mr. Snyder some money and I'll learn a lot. I like learnding. learnding is fun.

Send me a private message on here Mr. Snyder. I'd post my phone number, but I don't trust half of these people. But I do trust you, Mr. Snyder.

So come on. It'll be fun. If we lose the first game you can fire me.

But seriously now, hire Fassel.
I'll take you over Fassel if that's any consolation.

What sucks is when Fassel gets hired I'm going to be forced to like his ass. It'll take a month or two but I guess I'll submit at some point.

Why 5 games? Because a veteran coach should instantly win no matter where he coaches? Because 5 games is how long you need to tell if a coach is good or not?

Yeah 5 games is silly, look at how the Chargers came back from their bad start.

However there is a strong belief, and I don't agree with it, that somehow Fassel would only get 1 year and then be gone. That somehow DS would back up a truckload of money and get Cowher. If you believe this then Fassel has to win right away.

I can't see Fassel pulling out. What are his options? Staying with doing radio for Westwood One? Please. Snyder has him by the balls right now and he knows it.

You'll have to post this on the Redskins owned message board extremeskins.com to have any chance in becoming the hc of the Skins. But when you do, make sure you bring in a general manager of your liking.

Re: I'm tired of waiting.

The Redskins legacy is as one of the prime teams in NFL history. Now we are the verge of becoming in the DC Met area what the Jets are in NY; the JV. That's what happens when you hire as your head coach the guy that the team who used to be the area JV (Ravens) fired as their coordinator. How can the Skins be the prime when their leader is the Ravens reject? If you have friends who are Jets fans in NY, ask them how they feel now that the Giants are even more the kings. That's how Skins fans will feel with Fassel in charge!

If Mr. Snyder has any idea [and I'm sure he does] about what's being said on fan forums, talk radio, and any other media types, he's at this point actually afraid to name anyone coach. He realizes if he dosen't name someone he's reasonably sure the fans will support, he could be experiencing the Fassel backlash all over again.

I'm patient enough to wait out the process and get behind whoever is coach so we can get back to the business of football. I think the players feel the same way, they just want a name.

Because we are a draft away from the SB. If Gibbs would have stayed one more year he would have taken us next year. If this guy can't have a better season than this year's team then to me he's mediocre (whoever he is) granted DS and VC with the change of offense philosophy will make it more difficult for Campbell. This team will have injured players back, especially on the OL where it really hurt. We should be a better team and losing is no excuse. We'll see.

i'm not so sure i can agree with that.

lets not forget, it was todd collins that lead this team to the playoffs. he likely will not be back. plus, like you said, the skins will be running a new offense now. it's uncertain how long it will take for the players to adjust.

So because you think we would have gone to the Super Bowl next year if Gibbs had stayed, you've decided 5 games is the benchmark.

Is this only if Fassel is hired, what if it's Meeks?

In this case it applies to Fassel, Marty, Green, Mora sr., Billick, Mooch. Why, you ask? Because they are the ones with HC experience and should know what it takes to motivate a talented team. I would give Meeks and Grimm a pass since they haven't had HC experience, but feel they wouldn't let us down.

Re: I'm tired of waiting.

I know this wouldn't happen, but what if none of these candidates accepted the conditions which have been laid out for this head coaching job? Who is left (other than Russ Grimm) who would interview for this job?
