WT - Patient Moss hits stride
Patient Moss hits stride - Sports - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper
When the offense sputtered in two losses and then the game plan called for almost exclusively short passes in the third game, Santana Moss didn't whine about his lack of touches, didn't blame the coaching staff for a flawed strategy and didn't call for a quarterback change. Moss, the Washington Redskins' Pro Bowl receiver, is used to waiting his turn while waiting for an offense to take shape. He did it in high school, at the University of Miami and with the New York Jets. "I've been patient since Day One," he said. "It started when my mom wouldn't let me play football until I was 12 years old. That appreciation has carried over. I've been through so many things that now, when something happens, I can say, 'I've seen this before.' "I think back to those years and I try to take every opportunity I can get because the chances don't come too often. Last year, I had plenty of chances. This year, guys like Antwaan Randle El, Brandon Lloyd and Chris Cooley -- I don't know when I'll get the ball again." ![]() |

The guy is great football player. On and off of the field. I love that he's a Redskin!

I boldly predict he'll wear three SB rings for the Redskins.
Yeah, I said it. |

One sounds good to me...three, wow! That would go beyond the Gibbs era.

Re: WT - Patient Moss hits stride
We need to lap Cowboys in SB rings. That just leaves a bad taste in my mouth everyday.

I see this team being one of the old school 'Dynasty' types.
They have the character. They have the coaches. They have the players. THEY HAVE THE FANSBASE! |

Re: WT - Patient Moss hits stride
But with free angency do you really think they'll all hold together that long?? For 3 SBs?? That's what I worry about. The guys getting full of themselves and wanting the big bucks and moving on.....

Re: WT - Patient Moss hits stride
With Moss getting all this attention this week may make the G men game plan a little more for him. If this happens its time for Cooley, Patten, Loyd, El, to step up and make some plays. Moss will get his catches but I remember how last year he got shut down in some games and we did not have another go to guy. Patten has only had one catch (I think) this year and Loyd has been very quite and it looks as if Cooley is starting to make some plays. If you add Portis to the mix let them try and shut down Moss because this could be the week another one shines.

He was the one guy I followed in college at the time, I didn't watch all the games but when I knew he was on I would toon in just to watch him play, I was hoping at the time we would draft him. I don't remeber the big plays so much as I do the fact that he was always wide open, it was so blatent that I thought the competition was just very subpar, it's obvious now that he was just in a league of his own in college, I guess he's pretty close to that on the NFL level as well. |
