They either deal him this offseason while he's still under contact or he's going to walk away after next year for nothing.

He's got a $25M cap hit they can't really afford and a promising rookie ready in the wings. The only way Lance proves himself is on the field, so I can't see them keeping him riding the pine another 12 months. All the language since the draft has indicated it's Garoppolo's team this season gone, and it's the future moving forward into 22. Shanny was evasive after the loss last night, which says straight away he's not sold on Jimmy G going forward. At this point that means they shop him around. Whether we get him or not (trade capital?), I'd be surprised if he's not in a new uniform by May.
