Without looking at numbers and I'm guessing Duke Johnson's worth, if they draft Barkely, then it would mean they are spending around $15m on RBs per year? That is unless Browns want to become a team who will always run, which is something they can do with Tyrod Taylor.

Browns signing Hyde makes me wonder if they're maybe trying to trade their pick to someone who really wants Barkley...assuming the Giants would get him at the #2 spot if they don't take him.

Re: Around the NFL: Free agent signings 2018

Siemian is going to bounce around the league for about 10 years as a better-than-average back-up and make a solid living at it. Same is probably true for AJ McCarron, although he will likely get a shot at starter somewhere along the line.

My point is that it could open the door for fully guaranteed multi-year contracts at every position. The NFLPA could use this as a bargaining chip. The owners would hate that.

Re: Around the NFL: Free agent signings 2018

The #Giants went all in on LT Nate Solder, especially after watching Andrew Norwell head to the #Jaguars. They priced out the #Patriots and the #Texans… making Solder the highest paid LT.

I think he's a good Tackle but not the best by a long shot.

The Browns are very much open to shopping their picks, so it's not a lock that they'd draft Barkley. I have to say though, if the 'skins somehow got Barkley, I think that would be the magic beans for Alex Smith.

I would trade up to get him but I know it won't happen.

Also TB is working out Guice today so it looks like we may not go RB at 13 if both of those studs are gone.

If not RB, then definitely BPA and hope that is a DL.

Duke Johnson is more WR than RB at this point

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I have very little faith in the NFLPA, as they always seem to be distracted by other less pressing issues (i.e. discipline).

I really doubt the contract is fully fully guaranteed, but if it is, it'd be interesting to the dynamic would be between Zygi Wilf and the other owners.

I am more concerned about Richardson's injury history. Three major knee injuries with Seattle.
I do not want to see Richardson and Jordan Reed in street clothes during games filling out their deposit slips for their huge pay checks.
Reed is as injury-prone as he is talented. He has yet to play 16 games in his first 5 NFL seasons and his $10million dollar cap hit this year is a big concern.
Richardson has played only one full 16 game season in his 4 year career that has two major ACL tears and one MCL tear.
Add Doctson to that equation and injury history to our receiving is a concern.

All of this is 100% true and it is a big concern but we needed that Speed to open up the field, even if he is just used for some deep passes here and there we will benefit from it. Reed? It's time to just realize we need to draft a TE
