Re: Around the NFL- Week 3

There will still be ticky tack calls missed, i.e. missed holding calls, subtle jostling between db's/wr's, etc. but a lot of things we used to take for granted should return to normal. Things like game speed, refs being in the right position to see things, controlling the players so scraps don't get out of hand, etc. The obvious calls should still be called, like calling Sidney Rice for interference because he was draped all over Sam Shields instead of putting that on Shields. Same thing with plays like the one Darrius Heyward-Bey got injured on. Things like the refs knowing the rulebook too, like a dead ball foul is not a 10 second runoff inside 2 minutes, and things like correct spotting of the ball after a penalty so 20 yard unsportmanslike penalties never happen. Those are all examples of things that the regular refs never had a problem with, and are glaring examples of what the replacements have done so far. Sure, instances of the refs penalizing the player who retaliates against an instigator will happen, but that should be expected by now. |
