For those against giving up next years rd1, I get it, but consider the scenario that without a top LT our QB pick this year gets sacked, harassed etc. to the point he looks like Howell did 2nd half of the season. Then we don't know if he's a bust, shell-shocked or just in need of a good LT. Or we do OK, say even 8-9, and come up middle of the pack. We still need a good/great LT but there's no prospect where we pick in '25, so we go BPA and still need an LT.
The draft is always a risk, but I'd rather gamble next years pick on a guy everyone covets this year, than wait and hope things work out next year. Besides, Peters knows that while he has rope to play with, he can't hang around too long without results. He wants a winning team inside 2-3 years to cement his job, and he won't get that by waiting and hoping. |
