My thought was if they did that, it would alienate a LARGE chunk of the current fanbase. I think most, even if they do not want the name changed, can live with it. Especially if they keep the colors and other things like the wordmark font, the "R" and just lose the Native American imagery. BUT, if they started over as the Washginton Whatevers with a brand new color scheme and when you walked into the Stadium there would be no mention of the Redskins, nothing to honor the SB teams, the NFL Championship teams, no retired #'s/ring of honor, etc, then they would see a lot of fans jump ship as this was no longer the team they grew up with and loved.
So, wondering your thoughts. How do you think you would react if they made it seem like a new franchise and ditched everything including the history? What about if they kept the history but did a complete overhaul new colors, fonts, name, logo, everything, but you could still walk into Fed Ex and see a banner for SB XVII, XXII, and XXVI?
