Wilbon chat
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...093001143.html
I think he makes a really good point here:
Quote:
Charlottesville, VA.: I'm so TIRED of the national media and their obsession with hating the Redksins (e.g. Len Pasquerelli, Don Banks, Peter King, etc., etc.)...do you think that people on the national scene will start to recognize that this team has the capacity to be for real?
Could Joe Theisman be right?
Michael Wilbon: This is a great question to end on. Joe Theisman, for those who aren't aware, picked the Redskins to win the Super Bowl. Now, that's what we call a "homer" pick since Joe lives here and played for the Redskins and it's the team that's close to his heart. He's hardly a neutral observer. BUT Joe Theisman works at his craft. He works at it like he's going to be cut tomorrow. There are years when Joe thinks his old team stinks, and he'll say it. But he's loved the way this team looked and right now, he looks pretty damned good. As for anybody else, I don't much care about preseason prognostications. People love that stuff. They ask for predictions here every week, and when I say that stuff matters not a damn, some folks get grumbly...I, for the record, picked the Redskins to go 9-7, and I'll stay with that. But I do believe you win first, then become good later...at least in the case of teams on the rise with no recent pedigree...Capacity to be for real? Every team has the capacity...It ain't about capcity, it's about realizing it...Three weeks in, the Redskins look like they're ready to make a serious move in that direction. But don't go throwing any parades just yet.
