I agree it is a bit pointless but it is the off season and this is a discussion board.

You know who I attribute RGII to or fear he will become. Jacoby Ellsbury. I love the Sox and he is one of my favorites. The guy is lights out when healthy; WHEN HEALTHY.

So RGIII can be better then Luck and/or Wilson and/or the entire NFL but if he can't get back on or stay on the field he is useless.

It was said all season that the knock on RGIII is can he stay healthy. In his FIRST season he has had a concussion and a major knee injury (his 2nd of his career).

I am not arguing with you at all and I went RG to be the best ever as well but at this point if history is a indicator of the future you got be nervous as a Skins fan.

For a 6th round draft pick, Tom Brady was certainly the most underrated NFL draft pick of all time. He was the steal of all steals coming out of Michigan.

I am still stoked to have RG III and it is impossible to predict his future as of know.
Its my understanding PM DID want to come here, and we were very interested, but the Salary Cap penalty kind of ruined that.

Your timing is about a week off.. The salary cap penalty came at the dawn on free agency on Monday afternoon.. The previous week it was clear Manning wasn't coming here and we made the RG3 trade with the Rams. He made it known he wasn't interested in facing his brother twice a year. We never had a legitimate shot at Manning.

Even with the injury, I'm 100% satisfied we made the moves we did. Our short and long term future is much brighter with RG3 than it would have been with Manning.

The penalty was announced at that time, but, contrary to what Shanahan stated initially, the Skins knew it was probably coming months in advance. Subsequent reports made that very clear. Its not like Mara was having secret meetings and negotiations with the NFLPA that the Skins, Cowboys, and other owners didnt know about.

The Skins had a meeting scheduled with Manning even after they made the trade for the #2 pick. You say we never had a legitimate shot of coming here, but youre making a bigger deal of his not wanting to play against his brother than it really was. I beleive SS even stated he was seriously considering us (although we were not necessarily the front runners) at the time.

Personally, i think we were planning two contingencies:
Plan A) trade for RGIII if we think we'll get the cap penalty; or
Plan B) sign manning and draft a QB if we dont.

Even after trading for the #2 overall pick, we still could have turned around and flipped it to the browns if we didnt get the penalty and decided we'd rather do Plan B. Still, i think its obvious that our preference was to go with Plan A. But if the Browns had secured the #2 overall pick and we did not get the penalty, i think we would have made a very strong push for Manning.

Injury aside, RGIIIs a perfect fit here. Luck is a perfect fit for the colts, Mannings a perfect fit in Denver. Everything worked out for the best.

I think mike vick is way better than RGIII let's just sign him and cut Griffin. Makes sense

so we'll design our offense for those 3 guys. gabbert will take the snaps, with vick and tebow in the backfield behind him

To the contrary of your contrary, multiple insider reports said the Redskins were blindsided by the penalties and severity of them. They had big plans for free agency including addressing CB (Finnegan) and RT before they got hit at the last minute. Additionally, it was pretty clear that Manning had little to no legitimate interest in the Redskins. He may have considered us because of our need and his admiration of Shanahan (plus a close relationship to one of the owners) but we were not a factor in his search for a team.

That works. Who needs that Griffin guy? His career is over now anyway.

Exactly. We get rid of the RB position and use both Vick and Tebow in our pistol formation behind Gabbert. It would be geunius. You wouldn't know which guy was going to throw the int of fumble. It would be a thing of beauty!!

I gotta agree with Pain on this one. From all that I remember from the wirl wind of last March was that withing a day or two of Manning getting cut by the Colts we were ruled out of a possible place for him to sign.
