Well, not only would you be on the hook for the 28 million, but it also triggers the rest of his contract which I'm sure has more guaranteed money. THen you are looking at the cap hit and the money that Luck/RGIII will get and no team is giong to pony up 40+ million in two QB spots. On top of that, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY outside of the Raiders will give you a multiple 1st rounders for Manning with his health being what it is. I sure as hell wouldn't. I doubt you'll find a team that would pony up one.

Possibly, as long as we take a QB in round 4 or 5 as well. Also, what would our top two picks look like?
Claiborne/Dwight Jones Blackmon/Hosley Richardson/Sanu

Warner was already a "pro" when he came in.

Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
I don't understand why there's a debate over Peyton being traded? It's simple...
1- If Peyton is healing and looks like he will be able to play in Sept. then the Colts will keep him even though he's not happy. This is what the owner has said. 2- If Peyton is healthy they will keep him if not they will let him go. Not trade him. 3- More recently Peyton I think has been trying to orchistrate his release by speaking out through the media. He's the first to know that his boss the owner does not like their laundry to be aired through the media. Peyton does not want to on the sideline while some young Rookie takes over. I'm sure Peyton has dreams of grandure that he can come back. I'm sure he's holding out hope he can get healthy and come back and play a few more years. He's healing and things are looking promising. But..... 4- There is no guarentee that Peyton will be able to play again. No guarentee he will be ready to start come Sept. and because of both of these issues there is no way the Colts keep him and pay him 28 mill. and also the very reason they will draft a QB. |

Definitely Blackmon, and most likely Claiborne will go in the top 5. There is no way either of them fall to us unless a team pulls a Oakland Raiders Heyward-Bey at #7 out of thin air draft pick. I hope like hell we don't waste our 1st on Richardson. We have so much young talent at RB that would be nothing less than an epic failure if we went that route. d

Second part: How can you say Warner entered the league already as a pro? He went into the training camp undrafted, couldn't even throw a ball ten yards. Went on to bag groceries and be in an arena football league, (something that any college qb can do), then got signed to NFL europe playing against mostly guys that never made it to the league or 3rd stringers (similar to the canadian football league), and then went to the Rams in 98...Weeden played 4 seasons at OK state, like Warner at Northern Iowa. Weeden played with better players, but also better competition and defenses(Von Miller, Gerald McCoy, Suh, Amukamara, Aldon Smith, Orakpo, etc.) If Weeden were 21,22, 23, hell even 24 He'd be a first rounder. Age doesn't mean much for the QB position. Hell Vinny Testeverde played till he was 46. Favre played until he was 42. Warner retired at 38, playing 11 years going to 3 super bowls. Look, I was just like you in terms of Weeden, but in terms of value of where we'll be drafting and being that the good QB's will be gone, and the fact that this guys only weakness is his age, makes it a lot better of a prospect than an unknown inaccurate Tannehill. Every scout likes Weeden, they just wish he was younger. Can't change that but oh well live with it.

Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
Your right if he fell that far he would ba a steal. Problem is he won't.
[quote] Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State, 6-3, 219, 5.00 (South Squad)Weeden saved his best day for the final padded practice. He displayed outstanding arm strength, making great throws with excellent accuracy. He showed excellent touch on a fade route into the end zone and the ability to squeeze passes between defenders. It was clear from this week of practice that Weeden was the best quarterback in Mobile and has legit first-round talent.
Read more: Senior Bowl Dish: Brandon Weeden solidifies draft status - NFL - Sporting News] Here's how I'm looking at it..... of the Redskins needs, is there any position you would say right now they can't live with out? they have to address first because that position just has to get filled. and I would say I don't see any other position other then QB that I'd say is a position we have to fill over any other position. and now lets say the coaching staff likes Weeden, has built a report, he has the skills, then I'm ok with them taking him in round 1 even though he's slated to go round 2 or 3 just so we have him and can check that position off the list of needs until later in the draft if I felt there was nother QB worth drafting or bringing in as a UDFA. |

You obviously don't see the point whatsoever. Try again Patrick Ramsey.

We should trade down if we are going with Burfict or Hightower. Both would be a real reach at 6.

Yeah definitely like a late first and early second is what I'm saying.
