Re: Redskins Final Cuts

First time in a while that there are so many young players who may contribute this year....no more sacraficial lambs...well Sellers is still there. I look forward to seeing what we have and then next year we can start to add other pieces to the puzzle!

We may struggle at times this year but we will get better! I hope we can have another offseason like this one. I am geeked to see players like Austin and Kerrigan and Trent Williams be the new cornerstones of the winning Redskins!

Hail!!!

Re: Redskins Final Cuts

The Skins will announce their cuts later tonight, according to this post on the NFC (B)east blog on ESPN. It remains to be seen if any trades have happened, since the deadline to get to 53 has already passed (6 pm). 23 confirmed cuts have already happened, check my above post for names. Either way we'll know all the details by the end of tonight, but more roster moves will probably be made in the coming days.

Thanks for the link . I would have cut one of the WR's before either K . Williams or Royster .

Re: Redskins Final Cuts

Artis Hicks was the final cut to get us to 53. The trade didn't go through. More roster moves will probably happen in the coming days.

We don't have a single backup guard on the roster

Willie Smith did play some guard in college, but obvi he's not ideal for depth at this point.

Re: Redskins Final Cuts

I'm a bit worried about our guard situation.

Do we make a move for Meriweather and try to sign him? With Moore hurt, and our Safety injuries piling up, not to mention OJ is 30+... Maybe making a move for him would be smart?

keep in mind we have

C/G Will Montgomery
C/G Chris Chester
C/G Erik Cook

Willie Smith who as an emergency could play guard, and I'm sure Locklear could play Guard in an emergency, and if worst came to worst we could use mr utility Lorenzo Alexander.

But yes I understand why you all are not too satisfied with our guard situation.

Re: Redskins Final Cuts

There are pieces of the puzzle that are not currently on the team yet. That is how I feel about the OLINE. BA and MS may have a few targets out there and they are waiting for cuts to come down.

It seems strange to me to only keep 8 guys, but at the same time if the players we cut garnered keeping MS would have them on the team. He is putting his OL together and so far he has 8 guys he likes. I would assume that they are planning on adding another body.
