Loved PD the person and player. He used to post and answer questions over at ES, which is one of the brighter things about that site.

Re: Phillip Daniels Appreciation Thread

Of all the overpaid vets we've brought in here over the last decade, PD was a shining exception. Professional and a team player. Every year I'd wait for him to get bumped off the line by a "hungry rookie", but instead he'd keep the job and exceed my expectations. Maybe not spectacular but solid through and through.

Thanks PD!

And I think this might have been his last good game. lol...good guy and I wish him well. I think his son plays college ball.

McCardell as WR coach.
Ray Brown as an OL coach.
Philip Daniels as a DL coach.

All guys who were coaches in the field in their waning years. McCardell already seems like he's working out well.

Re: Phillip Daniels Appreciation Thread

I definitely admire what Daniels has accomplished in his career. People may forget that over a decade ago when he was with the Seahawks he was actually sought after for his pass rushing abilities. He was able to last 15 years in this league because he adapted and became proficient in the run defense.

Sources close to Daniels (I don't use that often enough) told me last week that he's been told if he wants it he's basically Option 1 if there's any injury along the defensive line and they need an additional roster spot. So right now I don't think coaching is his immediate preference. He'd like to continue playing, preferably here.

I always liked PD for who he was both on and off the field. Class act, leader, good player, and man is he a beast in the weight room.

Love the guy. A professional and team player in every sense of the word. His work ethic and attitude are beyond reproach and I think he would be a valuable asset as a coach. Good job PD!

Re: Phillip Daniels Appreciation Thread

For a second I thought this meant a playing opportunity

"Phillip Daniels
Just received a phone call and the possibility of several opportunities. God is good."

But he just Tweeted that it is not related to playing football. Coaching maybe?
