If we play an attacking style then we have a very nice defensive front which doesn't fail to maximize Cofield at NT. Let's hope this is the plan.

Man, look at the hate when we don't play Snyderrato Off-Season Rules.

Jenkins would have been a great pick up at a good price - certainly more than we paid for Bowen. But he was an older guy who apparently, tried to up the ante at the last minute. Anyone doubt that Cerrato would have said "How much more?" and signed him?

Instead, Allen says "We don't play those rules anymore. We have a back up plan. Thank you very much and have a nice day." Then goes and plucks a guy from within our division who is 3 1/2 years younger, for less money and of whom all the insiders are saying "steal".

Wow... free agency with a cost effective plan. I can see why there is sooo much hate.

Cofield and Bowen are very good signings. Keep in mind, we're only in the 3-4 base maybe 40-45%. We'll be in plenty of even fronts. I think we'll be using Cofield/Bowen/Carriker/(maybe some J. Jenkins) as our DEs in odd fronts. I think we'll see Bryant/Neild/J. Jenkins at NT.

We've gotten much younger and more athletic in our front 3. Very good thing.

If we can pick up a G and T well be in good shape.

It's like an abusive relationship. People say they want out from the Snyderatto days, but they just can't bring themselves to move on.

It's more like 65%-70% isn't it? Certainly not every play, but the vast majority of first and second downs.

$17 ish million.

But yeah, that's still plenty of money to chase Braylon Edwards and upgrade the OL.

Re: Redskins sign DE Stephen Bowen

I like this approach. All of these guys could be starters or they could end up being role players playing limited snaps. Sharing the burden is a good thing. If we could land Cofield and Bowen for less than having an aging Jenkins and a worthless Haynesworth on the team, I'm all for it.

Let's roll!

should be more than that right? With all the cuts, moving mcnabb, haynesworth, daniels, the DT, etc.?

It seems to me you are unhappy that a proven, true-big-strong space eating NT has not been aquired and/or that the D-lineman that have been aquired are more of the attacking/gap shooting type and not the gap control/occupy lineman type.

I see the concern but not sure one of those was really out there except for Franklin - maybe they are just waiting for the market to cool down before going after him?

According to WP, it's 30.

Redskins have plenty of cap space after trading Albert Haynesworth, cutting veterans - The Insider - The Washington Post

Quote:
By trading Albert Haynesworth (who carried a salary cap figure of $5.4 million) and cutting center Casey Rabach ($3 million cap figure), nose tackle Ma’ake Kemoeatu ($2.5 million) and defensive end Phillip Daniels ($1.25 million), the Redskins freed up another $12.15 million in cap room.

That meant Washington was $34.15 million under the $120 million salary cap.
