Stick a fork in a Newt, what a disaster.
I predict Bachmann will win Iowa and shake things up in S.C. So far she's run a pretty decent campaign. I seriously doubt Trump would have done this well without any drama. |

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread
So Jon Huntsman is officially in, but honestly I just don't see him defeating Mitt Romney in any of the early states, much less winning a general election. There's something very manufactured about him. It's still very early, we'll see. His roll out was very blah.
Rick Perry still might jump in. I'm sure they're doing some internal polling right now testing the waters. My gut says he won't, but the longer he drags it out the more difficult it will be to organize a serious field team, tap big donors, and get some traction in Iowa and N.H. |

Honestly, there's nothing special about Romney and if there's anyone that's manufactured I would pick him out of the lineup.

"She even told the congregation that she and hubby Marcus — who by then had opened a Christian counseling center — had been united not by love but by a unique series of divine visions experienced by three people simultaneously. Bachmann claimed that back in her college days, she was up one night praying with a female friend of hers when "the Lord gave each one of us the same, exact vision... It was a picture of me, marrying this man, in the valley where his parents have a farm in western Wisconsin." Meanwhile, miles away, Marcus "was repairing a fence on the farm where he worked, and the Lord showed him in a vision that he was supposed to marry me." According to Bachmann, Marcus initially complained to God that he wanted to see the world first, and only later relented." Ummmm i cant have this person in charge of the military or nuclear weapons. No way in hell

Yeah, she needs to ratchet down that type of rhetoric if people are to take her seriously. To her credit though, she does sit on the House Intelligence Committee, which will helpful as the campaign season kicks into full gear.
A new Iowa poll show her and Romney in a dead heat. Poor Tim Pawlenty can't bust double digits in any national poll. |

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread
Bachmann had a few good interviews on Sunday, in that sense that she didn't say anything off the wall or controversial. She'll have to answer for her record on farm subsidies and earmarks, which is counter to her small government Tea Party message, but any pol worth their salt should be able to spin that.
If Rick Perry doesn't jump in, I could really see her and Romney going down to the wire. No one's feeling Tim Pawlenty and Jon Huntsman is Romney-lite. |
