Buchanon: He wants a starters job, but he likes it here. I don't really know
Doughty: Should be back
Golston: Probably gone, looking go get paid. Not in our long term plans

Then I'd just let them go. We're never going to get over the hump with any of these guys. If we bring them back we're just going to have another 4-6 win season. I'd rather go 1-15 then 6-10.

1 additional pass rusher makes this a very potent pass defense.

You still have to trim the fat, such as Golston/DHall/Moore/Horton/McIntosh who have contributed to the season-long struggles of our pass defense. None of those players will be on the next great Redskins pass defense, but I believe FAR fewer additions are needed than subtractions.

Completely different on the other side of the ball, where we have a lot of decent contributors, but our only above average players are likely Trent Williams, Chris Cooley, and Fred Davis, and no depth.

Out of the list, I would not try to retain Chris Wilson.. McIntosh and Blades, I'm on the fence of whether if we should try to resign them or not.. It's obviously they do not fit in our defense, however we will need depth.. I am pretty sure McIntosh doesn't want to be back-up, but I think he might won't have a choice after he tests the market..

Most of players in the list will be good for depth, which is what we need. We cannot expect to fill in both starters and depth through FA and draft. It is possible but I don't think it's ideal, though.

I keep hearing pundits saying Wilson was a nice back up to Orakpo when he needed a break or when he had to sit out the one game. Plus he took over Carter's spot pushing Carter to back up, supposedly. Which is why I'd keep him.

Isn't 1-15 a "fire everybody" situation?

Yeah I didn't get the whole "I'd rather go 1-15 vs. going 6-10 again" thing. I don't want 6-10 and I hope the team does better but I'll take the 6-10 over 1-15 as long as progress is being made to get this team to be respectable. In other words if they can pick up young healthy players and move the ball well but their issue is the "red zone" then we know thats all they need to work on the following year. I don't ever want to be the team that only wins 1 game all year.

i'm not sure if I'd bring Jammal Brown back, atleast not prior to free agency. He'll be 30 when the 2011 season starts and there are younger, better right tackles available in free agency. I also don't know why Brown would be intrested in returning. I seem to remember him wanting to play left tackle... If he still has that view, he certainly won't be cheap to resign.

By my count there will be four tackles (right or left) in FA who are younger/better than Brown:

Tyson Clabo
Jared Gaither
Doug Free
Ryan Harris

I don't think any of them will come cheaper than Brown will. You'd be paying starter money for all those guys and probably a premium for the first three. And I think R. Harris is a small upgrade on Brown, if that. Though Shanny did draft him.

That's the same list for players better/younger than Heyer as well. We'll need to come away with at least two, I'm guessing it will be the same two we currently have. Harris is always possible if contract negotiations with either Heyer or Brown goes bad.

This is good news to me. I really want Rodgers to be on top of the list to be signed. D.Hall is a must keeper I dont see all the doubt in his play he has been solid in my eyes.

Buchanon Ive liked since his H-town days but Barnes was so impressive I'd like to see more of him. Youth movement baby!
Wilson played well this year. It shall be interesting this off season.

I disagree about Hall, I think he can improve his game w/better safety coverage & maturity on his part. He has big play ability & I think he stays around a while for that reason. The next great pass d could be next year or 2012 & I see him on the roster.

Buchanon and Rexy keep, shoot even Rocky, but the rest let them fade away. If he had a better year, yeah keep Carlos, but not how the pass defense performed this past season.
