Ray Brown to re-sign Today
The Washington Post was reporting that Ray Brown is to re-sign today for veteran min and that the rehab on his knee is going as planned. They also mention that Ron Warner has hired a new mgr and expects to re-sign for mininmum. In the same story they mentioned that Rock Loves his teammates and hopes to re-sign but it could probably remain up in the air until April 15 the deadline for re-signing. Rock sounds like Smoot & Pierce waiting to see if a better deal can be had. What do you guys think? Sorry I could not get the story to link.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
42 year old Ray Brown is a hero in my book...I think he played really well considering the circumstances last season. He is now the oldest active lineman in league history and I'm glad we have him even as a backup. As far as rock goes, it's a shame that he is only on special teams and doesn't carry the ball anymore. As much as I would hate to loose him, I would actually prefer him to go to a team that could use his talents atleast as a 3rd down back or fullback.

I was also happy to see he's being groomed for a spot on the coaching staff.

Rock proves to us that shorter guys really CAN make it in the NFL.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
We all give Ray Brown a lot of shit, but it's amazing for a man at his position to have that type of longevity. I would prefer him to be a mentor, but he showed he can still play a bit better. I'd also rather have him playing Guard I think.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
I don't care how old he is, the guy played his butt off last year and I'm glad he is back.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
Hes an amazing sign for us. yea hes old, but he was solid and now we arent dependent on him starting, but since he was a starter for us he knows our system and can step right in. Now if someone gets hurt it will be an easier transition.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
I really like this guy; not his play, but its just crazy that he is his age and still starting (last year) in the NFL. He gave up some bad plays, but overall he played unbelivable for his age. Like Dasel said we give him alot of sh*t during the year, but your cap has to go off to him.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
We had the chance to re-sign him a few years ago before he went to Detroit, better late than never I guess.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
Daseal:
You are absolutely right; Ray Brown has a lot of value as a mentor for young players - not just lineman - on the Redskins. He can give those who choose to be receptive a lot of wisdom with regard to things like hard work and conditioning and technique and how those things relate to longevity in the league. Ray Brown can play 4 positions on the OL. He won't be an All-Pro at any of them, but don't worry about asking him to pull out to "the other side". He can do that as well as Dockery can - - and Brown is almost 20 years older than Dockery. Oh yeah, and he's not getting paid like an All-Pro offensive lineman these days either...

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
He reminds me of Jakie Slater. The guy is older then some of his coaches. He's a freek of nature! Its a great signing. It will show all the young kids how to work there asses off!

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
An excellent re-signing. I'm glad he's back. Let's hope Warner and Rock can re-sign too. Both will provide solid depth. I don't blame Rock for looking elsewhere at this point; like I've said before, he is under-utilized. The man should be used in short yardage/goal line situations. I hope we bring him back.

Re: Ray Brown to re-sign Today
I like Rock - but I've never seen him pick up a lot of short yardage plays.
