Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas

Is he not a student of the game? Know the plays? Lift? WTF does commit to being pro mean? What has he not done not to be a pro?

Don't hate the player, hate the game....LOL

I doubt the coaches didn't notice him sleeping. I fell asleep and snored in class once only to be woken up by the professor and the entire class's laughter. Fortunately I wasn't cut from the class.

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas

Hey we have Banks returning punts and now Chad Simpson returning kicks, so Devin Thomas , who can't play offense, is a casualty of the numbers.

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas

Devin who??

Was he a player of value for this team?

If you had become a Redskins fan this offseason would you even care if this guy was or wasnt on the team?

Other than kickoffs would you even know who he is?

I heard that he had a substance abuse problem in college, which has now resurfaced. Take it with a grain of salt, but it was on one of the other message boards...

Now that would make sense regarding Shanny's comments about being a pro on and off the field.

I recall Buddy Ryan years ago catching flack for releasing Cris Carter. At the time, he famously quoted that "all Carter could do was score TDs", but years later, it came out that Buddy was hiding the fact that Carter had a drinking problem. I respect Ryan for not disclosing that, which would've been a huge black mark on Carter trying to catch on elsewhere. The change of scenery worked well for Carter, and perhaps it will for Thomas, if in fact he has substance abuse issues.

Shanahan is just like Gibbs.

After the Zorn fiasco, many of us were calling for a hard-ass Head Coach. We got one. Now, are we going to complain when he shows an underachiever the door?

Can't really argue w/ the decision. Shanny and Co clearly showed us they'll put the best player on the field. Thomas was a dud

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas

Listening to Devin Thomas and Lavar on the Fan right now.

DT said he had problems catching balls consistenly in practice and "things like that."
" " said he's really confused how got burried on the depth chart.
" " said he came in with the right attitude from the get go. Said he bulked up and put on some upper body weight. Then the team wanted him to get his weight down, he was too bulky. Said he dropped the weight, stopped lifting as often, and did what he did. But said they still seemed unhappy with him.
" " went to AZ and worked hard with McNabb; Said he came in in great shape.
" " said he knows the scheme, has the mentality. His teammates always tell him they want him on the field.

LaVar is asking is Shanny like that with everyone or does he feel singled out? DT dodging the question.

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas

As far as him being a party boy, well, without going into details most of these guys party pretty hard. A few I've seen out the night before a game. I don't think it's any different here than it is around the rest of the league though.

Um....doesn't the first line kind of answer the second line?
