Same rule that we benefited from in that playoff game in Tampa a few years ago. Gotta follow through all the way to the ground. Sucks but that's the rule and it was called correctly.

should be the same for running.. ball crosses plane then the obvious 2 feet down

at that point/showing possession it should be a TD

Yeah he looked good.

I knew he'd take over at some point in the season, but I didn't expect the "upgrade from McNabb to Kolb" experiment to go down in flames in the first game.

The Eagles were going to end up kicking themselves sometime this year...but week 1?

Love it.

The league doesn't let players with concussions just jump back into action any more...could have a few weeks for medical clearance.

In the meantime, the rabid Philly fans will turn on Kolb like they did McNabb.

OK, gotta do it:

Vick will probably start next week, but the Kolb will still considered starter, I would imagine, while he's recovering from a concussion.

Can't believe that guy went down in week one! He's in for a long season if he returns.

Certainly makes a great case for an 18 game season. With all the guys that have been injured in week 1 alone how can they think that adding two games is worth a couple of extra bucks.

Also Sanchez needs to at least attempt to go deep. This dink and dunk stuff might pad your QB rating but it's not going to help your team win.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

Yeah 18 games will significantly shorten the average career span in the NFL over a relatively short time. I think they have hit the "wall" in terms of season length. If the NFl really wanted to increase profits, they should do what every other industry has done and that is to slash expenses and maybe salaries across the board. The hype machine the NFL has become is really unecessary. Rozell did all the league had to do to win over America. I think the game should and can sell itself, because it already has in the past. New stadiums are also unecessary, unless you are truly replacing old relics like the old Tiger Stadium, etc.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

Sanchez is either an idiot or Brian Schottenhemier is more more conservative then his father. Have the Jets even attempted a pass longer then 5 yards?
