Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
i don't think i've ever read a post that called ramsey a golden boy but i could be wrong. i thought it was a pretty general feeling from almost everyone on this sight that ramsey has struggled but has showm improvement in gibbs system. if he was to struggle all next season it will be a general feeling from us to get rid of him but i and i'm sure many others think patrick will be just fine. on the drew breez subject, i think drew had a terriffic season but i'm not convinced he's a terriffic qb, marty shottenheimer's offense makes qbs look better than they really are, hell, his offense made tony banks look like a capable qb and banks is really awfull. so to compare ramsey to breez is apples and oranges.

Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
Matty:
If y9ou check Brees stats in his first three years, you'll find that he was good one year and miserable in the others. It 's not that he stunk in all of them; he was inconsistent. And he didn't play every game in those three years. Ramsey in 2005 is very similar to Brees in 2004. The comparison os Ranmsey this year to Brees last year will be interesting. It may have a lot to do with what the Redskins do with Ramsey and his contract situation at the end of next year... For the record, I don't think Brees will be as good in 2005 as he was last year. I don't think he will stink out the AFC West, but I don't think he has another miracle season on tap. In mathematical terms, this is called "regressing to the mean". Ramsey is praised on this board and he is slammed on this board. However, we do have the precedent of someone here comparing him in his first 15 or 16 starts to Brett Favre and Peyton Manning and a few other really outstanding QBs and drawing the conclusion that Ramsey was better than they were. The CLEAR implication from that is that Ramsey deserves to be compared to that level of QB in the NFL. Maybe some day he will earn that status and deserve that comparison. As of now, I don't think so. Let me be very clear about this. Peyton Manning and Brett Favre are absolute mortal lock certainties for the Hall of Fame. Patrick Ramsey - in March 2005 - would not get a single vote for the Hall of Fame even if ten of his family members were on the committee. That does not make Ramsey a "Golden Boy" here by any stretch of the imagnination. But there are some folks here who think his accomplishments to date are far more significant than they actually are. Remember, he has a losing record for games that he has started in the NFL AND let's just say that he has not become a legend for making miracle comebacks in the 4th quarter and/or the final 5 minutes of games to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Maybe that will be the case some day, but not quite yet...

Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
This is really a silly argument. There are two sides to this fence.
Either you have faith in Ramsey and are willing to let him develop a little further before judging him, since he really hasn't had a fair shot yet, OR you doubt him based on what little you've seen and until he proves you wrong you're going to slam him and point out every little thing he does wrong. Based on some people's view they would have cut Brees after his first 3 very inconsistent seasons and he never would have had that chance to really shine in his 4th year. That's a logical view to have since the Chargers basically had the same opinion when they drafted his replacement last year. Perhaps the Chargers and teams around the league could learn a small lesson though, and that's to show a bit more patience when it comes to developing a young QB. |

I think it would be a mistake at this point to write him off based on what we've seen thus far. Hopefully next year at this time we'll have a much better idea of where we stand with Ramsey, will he be a QB to build the team around or is it back to the drawing board. |

Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
this arguement really needs to be put on hold until patrick ramsey plays in gibbs system next year. remember he didn't get to practice with the first team until week 10 of last year and when he finally did start he played , arguably, the best teams in the league in the steeters and the eagles. he can't really be judged by what he did in spurriers offense because that system was flawed in it's ability to give the qb any real protection.

Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
you think he really had a "True" chance to win it ? i don't, brunnell was gibbs chosen boy plus was going to be paid a lot of money.

Re: Patrick Ramsey better be Ready!!!!!
Neither Ramsey or Brunell were impressive in the preseason. It was no surprise Gibbs went with the veteran.
