Snyder is getting to much credit
I could be wrong about this, but Ive got a feeling that people are giving Snyder to much credit. You know damn well that he had his checkbook open and could have easily signed whoever he wanted. I also think that Gibbs gets gitty sometimes and liked the idea last year of the big splash player.
Id be willing to bet that Williams never wanted Smoot or Pierce back on the team. Feel free to disagree but I think that is Williams felt like we needed those two they would be here, thats why im not to worried about it. As a second side note, mabye Snyder is just pissed off that his little venture into Six Flags didnt work out. Him and Bill Gates are pulling out becuase Snyder is upset they wouldnt listen to and implement his idea. Mabye he was counting on cash from that to sign a few players, lol.

Yeah, imagine that. They don't listen to a succesful business man and their stock starts plummeting, he leaves.
I don't think Snyder is hurting for cash whatsoever. |

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
I really think Williams wanted Samari Rolle the whole time. If he wanted to bring someone from the Titans he should have tried to trade for Bulluck. We could have moved him to the middle or something, he is a beast!!!!

Is Snyder is getting to much credit?
I think we could have resigned fred smoot, but I believe that he is not worth the money, we have cap problems that we are trying to fix and we will, I also think we could have signed rolle, but he also wanted to much money. If we can get Patrick Surtain some how than we will be okay, or even Mario Edwards. Pierce did a great job this year at LB, but who knows what he will do in NY, he might be a "dud". I think we will either draft a WR with the number 9 pick or if there is no WR there (Mike Williams) or (B. Edwards) then we could trade down and pick up Mike Clayton who might be the sleeper of the draft. Either way I hope we get a WR in the first round, we can get a CB in free agency like last year (Shawn Springs) STUD!!!!!

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
Yeah, I think that if this wasn't Gibbs/ Williams calling the shots, Pierce and Smoot would be back no matter the price. I'm not too worried about the losses.
I'm more worried about Ramsey's progression as an NFL QB and the OLine's cohesion. If those two things come through in a big way and the D drops off a bit, we will still be very successful.

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
I think our oline will be awesome next year...but...Im not sure exactly how much time Ramsey needs anyways, he still has happy feet. All we can do is hope he works hard and progresses. Last year he said how he spent a lot of time watching film and stuff...mabye he meant he was watching a Clint Eastwood movie, who knows. But I really hope he pans out and we arent stuck next year wondering if we should get a qb, or worse, starting Brunell... I almost wonder sometimes about how gibbs says brunell did fine but his play calling made him look bad. But then i remember brunell sailing screen passes over wrs heads...

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
We have massive, massive cap problems, thanks to Coles. That's why we couldn't re-sign people, plain and simple.

I's still tired of our players always having breakout years and then flying the coop.

But, we pay for them now or pay for them later... We're building for the future. Once the season starts I have a feeling we will all be very surprised. We have at least TWO geniuses coaching the team.

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
Although I hate to see Smoot gone I dont think it is as big as Pierce. With a good draft and with luck we can get an undrafted free agent or two we should be fine. It is hard to say at this point that we will be tough or not, but that could be a good sign since we usually win the super bowl by now in the off season.

SC, I agree with you on Smoot, I am not sure about Pierce? It could be William's want's to get someone else in the middle with more speed, or figured that much if Pierce decieded to go. |

Re: Snyder is getting to much credit
I think they really did want Pierce back, and we're ready to let Smoot walk. But they clearly decided to hold the line on the cap. The Giants outbid us by a long way for Pierce, so it was either screw the cap or let him go. For the first time in Snyder's tenure, they went with the cap. All this occurred before Coles was traded.
They gave Smoot a good offer, but the Vikes nudged them out. 11 mil bonus and lots more in the 1st three years, which we couldn't do. We had already decided to let him walk, and after the Coles fiasco, they couldn't have changed their minds if they wanted to. CBs are overvalued right now in the NFL in my opinion. (Not that they aren't important, but they still cost too much. Give me a passrush anyday.) All this bitching at the FO is kinda damned if you do damned if you don't, I think. Until we win, we are gonna get this kind of talk, as we all know. Beating up on Danny and the skins is a big industry in sports writing. Meanwhile, How are the Titans doing? And the boys just broke the bank on some aging FAs--apparently the greatest move ever. And gotta love those niners! And the Packers lost their o-line, basically. But none of them is in King Danny's league. As far as I can tell, the good teams keep their COACHES together for a while, and get a good QB and O-line. You build the rest according to needs and availability, and you try not to break the bank on one or two guys. And if you can't pay a guy, you let him walk and move on. We're beginning to do that, I think (I HOPE!!!).

There is still an ex Titan out there in Andre Dyson who would be a lot cheaper than Rolle and Smoot and isn't that much of a drop off.
