Your point is?

My point is that we got someone who's likely to be better than the average 5th round pick. If you look at the whole 5th round in the 2009 draft, there are a ton of nobodies there.

Guess I'll say a pray for ol' DC that Jim Schwartz wants Haynesworth back and Oakland/Buffalo miss out on one of the top 4 QBs and will take Campbell for a 4th rder or something.
You are going to say a prayer that we deal our best player to Detroit?

What is Detroit going to give us that replaces Al? Don't say the second pick, we arent' getting that.

A 4th for JC? Not looking likely.

Ok got it...thanks! Didn't realize the Rams had a late 5th to trade. Seems like a great trade for the skins.

I disagree. Carriker hasn't done anything on one of the worst teams in the league. Teams like Indy find startres on the 0-line in the 5th round. But we didn't lose the 5th rounder, just moved down so it might be worth the risk.

You would really consider trading Godzilla for a 5th rounder? Seriously?

Yes, Adam Schefter reported that we got Carriker for swapping 5th rounders with the Rams (the 5th rounder that they got from Philly).

Great deal for the Skins!

Carricker has 2 yrs remaining on his rookie contract, so we will pay him 1.07 m in '10 and 1.42 M in 2011.

He's coming off season ending shoulder surgery, isn't a true DT, and doesn't really fit STL's scheme.

If he's healthy, he's a great fit at 3-4 DE, and an absolute steal for what we gave up.

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)

So far, I see that he's a former First Round (#13) pick from 07. Played a great rookie season in 07, did OK in 08, and has no stats from 09.
I'm not overly excited on this trade. How much might we get out of him? Could end up starting, could end up riding the pine.

I AM EXCITED that it cost us moving from 132 to only 163. If those reports are true, then it's a real steal. Vinny would have sent them a 4th and a 5th.

Did anyone out there seriously think that Shanahan was brought in here to "rebuild"?

Rebuilding doesn't exist in the NFL. That is a euphimism that teams like Buffalo and Tampa Bay use to say that they have given up and they are just going to collect TV revenue.

So we swapped 5th rounders AND got a player?

This deal sounds like a steal.

So the price for Carriker was moving down not quite 30 spots in the 5th round. If he turns out to be the kind of 3-4 DE that we think he is, that is a huge steal by ShanAllen.
