Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

What I've said about Campbell all along is just now getting noticed by the rest of the people on this thread and the great charley casserly...It's about time people realize he is NOT the answer.

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

Understanding the issues with Campbell why hasn't Vinny gone after Jeff Garcia who would be obvious fit?

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mark Sanchez had to apologize for his sideline demeanor again. This time, he was hot-dogging it. Literally.

Sanchez shook off the worst start of his young career by running for one touchdown and throwing for another, before taking time to munch on a snack in the closing minutes of a 38-0 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

Sanchez was criticized last week for looking dejected on the sideline while throwing five interceptions in an overtime loss to Buffalo. He was happy enough after this performance that he was caught by television cameras trying to discretely eat a hot dog at the end of the blowout.

"I want to apologize for that," he said. "I wasn't feeling very good and didn't eat much before the game, so I was feeling a little queasy. Toward the end of the game, I probably should have eaten one of those bars or something, but someone offered [a hot dog], so I grabbed it and tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. So I shouldn't have done that, and it won't happen again."

ive posted on here a couple times that imo JC needs his first read to be open open for any passing play over 10 yds to click. apparently (atleast from this small sampling) shows that even when zorn calls a perfect play, the reciever runs a good route and JCs first read is open, he still doesnt get the ball out on time.
I've been a big JC supporter on this site but watching that video it really cements one of the criticisms that I've had which is that he's way too robotic. You can almost see him thinking too much thru his reads and not, as Charley said, trusting his eyes. Even on some of his worst missed throws (the poorly thrown fades to Kelly vs. St. Louis and TB, the missed pass to Moss across the middle vs. KC) it's almost like he's fighting against himself to make throws because he's not sure. It'd be a shame to see his tools go to waste but I am afraid that's what is going to happen for him in DC.

What's the point in bringing in a 39 year old who has never played under this variation of the WCO? If that's the case, why not bring in Dilfer who played under Zorn in Seattle?

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

I agree with Casserly that Campbell is a square peg being forced into a round hole with the change to a WCO under Zorn. I've wondered how Campbell would have continued to progress in the Al Saunders system, for which his skills seem a much better fit. Joe Flacco is looking pretty damn good in that system with Cam Cameron and Saunders coaching him up.

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

I heard Casserly on the Dan Patrick show this morning, and Casserly basically said the same thing: this offense doesn't fit with Campbell's strengths. He said that JC would be better in a downfield, play-action type scheme along with moving him around, rolling him out more.

One day, I think we'll look back and recognize that the first mistake that got this whole thing rolling downhill was the hiring of Jim Zorn as offensive coordinator. Going from a completely different offense apart from the one that Gibbs ran, which is why he spotted and selected Jason Campbell in the first place, and switching to a West Coast style offense may have set JC back immeasurably.

charlie casserly's break down of JC . . . sounds like alot of us on here. the defense of JC is becoming indefensible imo.

go skins!!
Playcalling hasn't been the best but when you've got a QB that can't pull the trigger then you've got a bad offense. I don't think this is the best offense for JC but I remember Sonny saying that if you can play QB in the NFL then it doesn't matter what system you're in. In his 5 years here I don't think I've ever seen JC throw a ball before the wr comes out of his break.

On a side note Charley Cassery is so much sharper than Vinny C. that it's painful.

Gibbs brought in Saunders to "modernize" the offense so it was really the offense Saunders was running.

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

Campbell has been indecisive, and it's been one of the bigger reasons why the offense has struggled in this four game stretch.

Just a reminder that no ones career is defined by a notably poor stretch. When Donovan McNabb retires, people aren't going to remember that he quarterbacked the Eagles teams that lost to the Giants, tied the Bengals, and got blown out by and benched against the Ravens. Yet, all those things were true. They're just non-essential characteristics of who Donovan McNabb is.

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie

I agree that JC would likely be better off on another team/system . But , his deep ball accuracy is horrible , I think he needs to sit behind Peyton or Favre for a couple of years and relax , enjoy the NFL and hope when his time comes he looks great .

I think the best thing for Campbell's career is if someone (anyone) would just correct the glaringly obvious issues with our offense and he could pitch a very good second half of the season.

Of course, what you can't fix over an entire offseason, probably can't be fixed in two weeks.
