Re: Redskins Select Jarmon in 3rd Round of Supplemental Draft

I'm not exactly sure that we're the best fit for him, given the potential turnover on our defensive coaching staff within a year or two, but my only concern is that we might have overpaid a bit.

Because outside of that, SEC defensive linemen tend to have no issue making the jump to the next level and and Jarmon appears to be no exception.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that if the Redskins get the guy they think they have, I see no reason to think that Vinny's assessment of his second round talent is off the mark.

Only that we might have been able to turn next years third rounder into a comparable player.

With 5 teams ready to take him in the 4th it seems like we paid the necessary price to get him.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Of course. I'm just suggesting that he might have been overvalued by multiple teams with less talent than use due to the fact that they plan on using him this year. Whereas, he fits into our puzzle as a depth guy in year one. So we might have been able to get a comparable player in say, the 4th or 5th round next year had we waited.

But, again, if the guy turns out to be an average 2nd round talent (2-3 wins added over the next 4.5 seasons), you aren't going to hear not one complaint out of me.

Kudos to the FO for putting the chips in the middle here, but they better be right on their assessment.

I like this move. We are essentially redshirting him, I look at him as a 2010 third rounder that we get to have for an extra year to get a head start on his development. And if he actually gets some decent pt this season and gets off to a good start then even better.

I'm good with the pick--stack the D and hopefully we can win some games with less offense, giving Zorn more time to get it going.

Vinny clearly is of the "bird in the hand" school--at least the guy is young!

So it seems that this locks Orakpo in at the SLB position... at least on 1st and 2nd downs. Im glad to see that we can now have a very good 3rd down dline that can get to the QB.

We might do the same with Jarmon have him take snaps at SLB, i do beleive Orakpo was a better College DE than Jarmon. I don't know the guy but i like the pick just because it brings youth, depth & we used the pick and didn't trade it away for one year players.

I think RAK will stay at SLB and they will put him in Blitz Packages off the edge where they can move him around and create win situations for him on the rush. We did need a movement on the Dline. now we can shore up the Oline after this season. Hopefully the young WR's can get on the field this season and show the promise that we expected last yr.

Is there any restrictions as far as placing either on the practice squad (although I don't see Wynn accepting a practice squad position and he would just retire.)
Looks like the Buzbee project is officially over, unless he comes into camp and outplays Wynn...which Im hoping he will(younger/upside). If the skins could finally get some of these yound DE's going,we could have a scary D'Line......

Is Buzbee eligible for the practice squad? He & Jarmon would be the only DEs eligible if so.

GT said JJ's a depth guy in year one, but really, who is going to start at LE? Daniels is coming off an injury & is old, Wynn is old. Assuming Orakpo plays SLB, If Jarmon shines in camp, he could win the job. It's not a deep position if Daniels isn't the same, which we won't know about till camp.

It would be great if our down 4 could get 2 the QB without sending a LB or CB.

On paper our DL is sick and games aren't played on paper but at least this pre-season JC going up against our DL & DF should prepare him for almost anything.
