Re: Reasons for drafting Sanchez
I like getting extra picks and all, but I haven't seen much reason to trust our talent evaluation later on, though the 13th pick really isn't a strong position, whoever we could get there we could probably get at 18 or 19, or someone just as good, the first round talent just isn't that deep it seems and really drops off around our pick, save maybe the USC LBs but who knows. We've only pulled a couple guys in the 2nd and mid rounds worth much of a mention.

Re: Reasons for drafting Sanchez
Cooley, Dockery (not unheard of to get a decent guard in the third), and Jansen are the only ones I can think of in the past 10 years. I'm sure I'm forgetting some drafts, maybe you could say Smoot was a good 2nd round pick.

We've done ok, I'd argue, in the 5th and 6th round with contributors (at one time) Robert Royal, Montgomery, Doughty, Golston, Blades and future HOF, Super Bowl MVP, President of the World Colt Brennan. I didn't realize how terribly we've drafted for the past 20 YEARS until looking at this history. Our issues pre-date Snyderatto. Let's not be fooled into believing that we're just starting to suck at drafting (for those that feel that way), we're professionally bad.

Speed, leadership, college system, football IQ, accuracy, fire. I love Campbell's class. It's just that class doesn't fire up your teammates in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.

Re: Reasons for drafting Sanchez
That quick release combined with his ability to anticipate really will be valuable in the pros.

Re: Reasons for drafting Sanchez
Just get into the game Campbell. Show some fire and maybe no-one would question you. Two minute offense your slow. 4th down you throw short of the first. He never ever shows emotion(even when he was trying to be traded).

Very true. But we certainly act like it with all these threads.

Re: Reasons for drafting Sanchez
Jets Interested in Campbell
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 24, 2009, 10:01 a.m. The Washington Redskins’ pursuit of USC quarterback Mark Sanchez may trigger a ripple effect that could send Redskins starter Jason Campbell in a trade to the quarterback-needy New York Jets, according to David Elfin of the Washington Times. That is, if the Redskins are able to trade up from the 13th overall pick to acquire Sanchez, who is rapidly emerging as the wild card of the upper half of the first round with several teams in the chase. The Jets are interested in Campbell, who has signaled that he wants out of Washington if they draft a quarterback, as a fallback option if they are unable to land Sanchez themselves. New York currently holds the No. 17 pick. Redskins executive Vinny Cerrato dismissed the notion that he has spoken to the Jets regarding Campbell. Through their actions, the Redskins have made it clear that they want to upgrade at quarterback. Their interest in Sanchez follows an unsuccessful offseason bid for Jay Cutler, who was traded to the Chicago Bears by the Denver Broncos.
