With Albright and Marcus I have us at $3.356M of cap room.

Since we didn't tender him an offer, he essentially became an unrestricted free agent

Great! So that means we get nothing but another roster spot to fill.

If the Redskins decide to trade their first round pick for extra picks how would that affect the salary cap/rookie pool? I'm curious to know if their current cap situation plays into any decision on whether they trade down?

Can't trade Moss. If you wanted to trade Moss before last season was the time to do it. Moss has no help at WR except for Cooley. We need a TJ Houshmanzadeh. Or Boldin. #89 needs some help.

It would decrease the Redskins rookie pool allotment, but not by a significant margin. A first round pick carries heavy weight in the rookie pool allotment calculation, but replacing one pick with two (say a 2nd and a 3rd or something) makes the net change insignificant. I don't think the cap would be a motivating factor in a trade down from 13. If they make such a trade, the motivating factor would be to simply acquire more players and build depth.

Do you (or anybody) know when the cutoff date is for tendering RFAs?

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009

Now that we're doing the things that a lot of people have been screaming for we'll have to see what we get. I doubt that Washington will be the last cap casualty. So with that being said, who's going to step up to fill Washington's spot, Blades? He's been doing it already right? How about Campbell, Fincher, or Sinclair? I think Horton can take Doughty's spot. He did so and shined. Can Evans take Taylor's spot? Well, hasn't he already?

Although I hate to see Washington and JG's draft class go, they're just too old now. They gave us their best, earned respect from players, coaches, and fans alike, and they got paid hansomely. What Washington takes with him is more important than his ability. His demeanor, attitude, and presence cannot be bought or drafted. I'd resign him later on just for his leadership.

I think that this is a good trend. We're starting to build up our own people. We're getting depth. The money situation has improved. We aren't trading away all of our draft picks. (This year was set up by two moves, Kendall and a desperation move for Taylor). We did draft last year. Instead of getting another's teams players we're getting our own. In the coming years we'll have money to get that one player out there. This year we can get a few good players. IMO we're better off with guys who are hungry for the big contract instead of guys who already have one. It'll be great if we can start to make roster decisions based on good football and not good money sense.
Perhaps we're starting to see that now?

My two biggest concerns are, can Hall or Rogers step up to the plate if Springs is let go? Also, what about our D-line? We've got older guys and guys that are unrestricted and restricted free agents. There's a big ? mark above that and I'm anxious to see what's going to happen there.

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but it has some good stuff concerning our past and future moves:

Redskins Team Report - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

And this classic quote from the Red Snapper:
"I’m glad the Redskins liked what they saw on film enough to bring me back."

LOL
