Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
I highly doubt that he would be coming in to replace Cerrato. If anything I could see him come in as an assitant to Cerrato, but why would he want to do that?

No, I wouldn't seek out change just for the sake of change. If we bring someone in let's bring in someone with a proven background. Not some schlub who we'll end up replacing in a few years. That makes no sense to me at all. |

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Bruce Allen is irrelivent really...I am excited at the possibility of there being a thought in Snyders head that maybe quite possibly my front office needs a new voice. If that thought is in his head then that alone is a victory and I couldn't care less if he actually hires Allen, because I will at least know the seed is planted.

The main attraction of Allen over Cerrato is: 1) He doesnt trade away draft picks. 2) He's not Dannys personal whipping boy 3) The fact that he's not Cerrato gives us leverage in hiring a HC to replace Zorn at some point - its been reported that Cerrato isnt well liked and its been implied that the reason Spags didnt take the job here last year was not wanting to work with Cerrato.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Because he has limited GM experience and there's probably not a lot of teams pounding down his door.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
If said schlub does not get the job done then that's fine with me. I am in favor of a Redskins GM being hired or fired based on his production and nothing more. I honestly do not think we have that now. Hopefully, in the future Snyder will stick to a professional relationship only with his front office employees.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
To my knowledge, theres only one GM opening in the NFL right now and thats in Cleaveland and theyve already got their candidate lined up. If his only option at this point is to take an assistant position, then it would stand to reason he would be interested in working for the team his father used to coach. This job is also attractive because its been rumored that this could be Cerratos last year being involved in football operations, so there is the potential for quick career advancement.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Another thought - If Allen came here in any capacity, it increases the likelyhood that John Gruden could land here - perhaps as the OC.
I'm not a huge Gruden fan, but he's certainly an upgrade over Sherman Smith. If theres one thing this offense needs, its fire. Grudens the type of guy who could definitely get guys fired up.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Id wait till next year, then chase Holgrem if Cerrato doesn't impress this year.

Sherman Smith and Zorn are also very close friends. I don't see Smith getting fired. I have a feeling adding Gruden to our staff would complicate more than help.
