I assumed that if you started a thread about it, you'd want to know if we could acquire anybody to help us. I'd say no.

When GTripp and I said nobody gets cut, we meant the figurative nobody. Nobody gets cut from teams around this time of year anymore, unless they're a nobody.
Point taken.

I thought Daniels did a decent job of stuffing the run since the skins defense did improve the past year in that catagory.

Re: Who Gets Cut After June 1/Salary Cap Day?!

My friend went crazy this weekend when he found out Shawn Alexander got released. He's like "WHAT? The Falcons better sign him. I mean he's better then Michael Turner." I then mentioned a few other guys who fell from grace and now he's covinced that NFL GM's are all idiots (which is part true but still). Anyway long story short he's going to make a team with Jervon Kearse, Shawn Alexander, Rod Coleman, Alge Crumpler, Warrick Dunn, and Patrick Keaney (somehow he got mixed up in all this).

huh!!??!!?? Sellers will not be cut. period. He is a Pro Bowl snubbed FB who is a beast and an asset in many more ways than one. Zorn signed another fullback because if Sellers breaks one of his 200 pound legs we will have a backup. I can almost gaurantee that the other FB's will end up on the practice squad. Cartwright is our #3 RB and a great special teamer, along with Thrash. I would hate to see Thrash go and if he does get cut, I can see him retiring and working on an NFL player's comittee full time.

while daniels is not the most gifted player around he holds his space on the D line (not getting pushed back or manhandled too much) and i consider him one of the locker room leaders from reading the WP articles over the past few years were he seems to be one of the few who speak up when some things need to be said. we dont have many vocal locker room leaders, fletcher is a quite dude (new to the team so you dont say much early) but i remember reading how he spoke up during halftime last year and everybody listened, the players after the game said thats what they needed.

if daniels tried an outside rush move like carter does everytime we would be screwed.

QUESTION: am i right or wrong for thinking that teams ran to carter's side more b/c they knew he would most likely try and go outside of the tackle opening up a running lane?

Do any of you see any good DE or CB or Safetys getting cut?
I wish we could have gotten Lito. Tell me would u try to move Betts to Detroit?
That is the only player on the Roster that im not at all sold on he hasFumblitis and I have no clue why Joe Gibbs stuck by him. Portis is the man and should be the man on this team until he retires

You are right, pretty much, but you should also note that teams were largely unsuccessful when they ran at Carter last year (but not in 2006, back in the highway 99 days).

Where teams gashed us last year in the run was between the tackles. The difference was London Fletcher, not Carter (although Carter deserves a bit of credit). When teams run outside, it's nearly impossible to block Fletch with an interior player. He's too quick. Some teams got slot receivers on him, but largely, it was a futile excercise to run outside on the Redskins last year.

Where teams were incredibly successful was in heading up the gut. You can get your fullback on LF if you go right at him, and then Rocky--often the unblocked man, did not have the play recognition skills to close the gap.

Rocky should improve in that aspect this year...but Fletcher is going to start losing his quickness now, and it's not going to take very long until he's a step slow at MLB instead of a step fast. That is a good reason that it is critical that Daniels gets replaced by a player who is even better against the run than he is.

Meh. He could win six games with that team and have the lowest payroll in the league.

Eight maybe if he gets Leftwich at quaterback.

I guess its better than the Raiders who are paying 170 million in salary for 8 wins.

I think Tyler Ecker will get cut since we have the 2nd best tight end. I wouldn't be opposed to picking up Leftwich

Ecker has a good shot at Yoder's spot.
