Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
we get 2 2nd's and a 4th
We give up a first, third and fifth. Seems a wash, not like we took em to the cleaners.

The picks from ATL look good. Their two 2nds, and 4th for our 1st, 3rd & 5th.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I do not like this trade. We needed to get more than that. Giving up our 3rd is bad news.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
More JLac:
Skins Make A Helluva Deal Getting 3 picks for this pick, one the team was never married to and one where it may have required a stretch given their needs, makes all the sense in the world. They get 2 second round picks - 34 and 48 overall - and also get a 4th round pick, which they previously lacked (103 overall). So the Skins pick 34, 48 and 51 in the second round, then have two third round picks as well. You can not load up on needs at O and D Line in that 2-3rd round range, and you are still going to be able to get a quality WR as well. Maybe not with as much upside, but kids like Simpson from Coastal Carolina could be excellent in the third round even if they don't take Kelly or Nelson in the second round. Merling might be there with the 34th pick as well.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I love the trade. That gives us 3 2nd rounders, 1 3rd, 1 4th, 1 6th and 3 7ths.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Umm, I don't like it.
We should have been done with getting the additional 2nd round picks. NOT giving up our 3rd and 5th. |

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I'm happy even if the draft chart says we were on the losing end of that trade. We hit the sweet spot of the draft (i.e., 2nd-4th).

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I think the trade was a smart move. We now have three, 2nd round picks, our Comp. 3rd round pick and a fourth round pick and our 6th and 7th rounders.
I like the trade, more picks. We gave up a 21 in the first round and a late third round, and a 5th. For two early second round picks and a fourth. Has anyone looked at the points of the trade? The warpath site is barely functional, everyone else having the same problem?

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Financially, it's a great trade. The 34 and 48 picks should be easier to sign and cheaper than a 1st rounder.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Draft value chart we come out ahead by a bit. Like it don't love it, but it's sure a lot better than a WR at # 21. Also the Cowboys make a bonehead pick with Jones IMO
