Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
i think this feeling comes from the fact that the NFC sucks donkey dick, we can definately take the seahawks, giants, or bucs, and we just killed the cowboys (although they were missing their top corner and top reciever)...pretty much the only team that should have us worried is the packers due to their depth in the WR core and our lack of depth in the secondary. If by some miracle we make it to the show, we will probably get rocked.

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
haha, sorry, i think i was a little harsh...all I was trying to say is that if we were facing NE or Indy, we wouldnt be so confident going in it...honestly I feel that in the beginning of the year we were the second best team in the NFL when it comes to talent and coaching...but I feel that with the amount of injuries that we have had (Rogers, Taylor, McIntosh, Thomas, Jansen, Wade, and all the other minor lingering injuries we've had), that its hard to feel confident going into the playoffs with 2nd/3rd stringers as starters and 3rd/4th stringers as backups. So the fact that we are confident I feel is a result of the fact that we are not playing the best teams.

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
It's like this.
I to, remember the Joe1 teams. While the game was was being played, you could not wait to see the next play, next series, etc, as it was more magic the home boys were about to deliver. ALWAYS the confidence to FINISH with a win. Even though we have posted some great games (and some horrific) under the Joe2 regime, it has not been the same. It has been more like "Geez, I wish this game would end, before we have a chance to F... it up" Until lately! It has definately gathered momentum, to more of the Joe1 kind of feeling. EX. In the Cowboy game the other day, TC was throwing everything low (even when he did not want to). I felt like confident, (like he could still reel it in) not panicky.......like we were going to blow it. And, he did The times....they are a changin' HTTR

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
The joke around DC was, Kilmer's knee's were so bad, that the defense beat him to the pocket

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
To set the record straight: the only time I've had a chance encounter with a "glory days" Redskin was this past Sunday before the game when I met Dexter Manley and he was gracious enough to sign my Portis jersey. No, I did not recognize him until he said, "Hi, my name's Dexter." Then, it clicked.

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
Not only am I getting that old feeling, but if you look at Gibbs on the sideline....he's got that old look on his face. For some reason he seems much more intense, and confident. Gibbs has always had that quiet confidence about him and you can see it in his eyes.
I honestly think this team knows it can make it to the Superbowl. |

Re: I'm getting that old feeling...
It hasn't been until these last four games that I've actually felt the Gibbs 1.0 magic. Not when he first got here, not even the run in '05 which got us into the playoffs. You can tell the way the players are talking; their demeanor. I almost get the sense that they could play the Seahawks in the next 30 minutes if they had to. That's how confident they are right now. I heard Shawn Springs say yesterday that he didn't know what a "Super Bowl locker room" felt like, but if this it, it sure feels good.
If there was ever a script to which Joe Gibbs plays best, it's the one that's unfolding right before our very eyes. *Journeyman quarterback seemingly out of nowhere having a career year. *No name defense - Not to be confused with the Dolphins of old. *Role players stepping up *Adversity on top of adversity *Harsh weather conditions on a weekly basis. *Running back with big heart and tough as nails. Skins are playoff ready. |
