Quote:
"People's opinions are shaped by the way they've grown up, the way they see the world, what they know about the world the person in question grew up in, etc. Sean Taylor isn't the only guy I know who fits his general profile. I've known guys like Taylor all my life, grew up with some. They still have shades of gray and shouldn't be painted in black and white...I know how I feel about Taylor, and this latest news isn't surprising in the least, not to me. Whether this incident is or isn't random, Taylor grew up in a violent world, embraced it, claimed it, loved to run in it and refused to divorce himself from it. He ain't the first and won't be the last. We have no idea what happened, or if what we know now will be revised later. It's sad, yes, but hardly surprising."

Wilbon is dead to me.

Wow. This is just.. Tragic. I am just at a loss for words. This is so much more than football now. It kills to know he had a little baby and didn't even get to spend time with her. I hope he pulls through just for her.

I can't believe Wilbon would actually say that. God, let the guy either recover/pass or whatever the higher powers will it to be first, before you crap on him. Jeez, whatever happened to a little respect?

I have been thinking the exact same thing since reading the Miami Herald article. If this is the case there is probably a better than average chance of catching the piece of scum that did this.

More importantly right now, based on the last Insider update, we should all be praying hard for ST. It's all we can do to help.

Not just from a football standpoint, I really truly hope that Sean comes out ok even if he can't play again. He is just so young.

Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News

My friend just called me. He is listening to 980AM locally and heard that when Sean's house was broken into a week ago the intruders rifled through his belongings and left a large knife on the bed. Maybe to send a message? A warning? Something is going here. This can't be random. Especially when I hear the report that Taylor grabbed a large knife to confront the attackers.

When I was medical school, one of the surgery department heads used to berate any students who were ever late. He used to say that if you're 5 mins late to a code (when a patient "flat-lines")--there's only one person you should call at that point--the pathologist for an autopsy.

Brain cells start dying under 5 minutes. The longer ST experienced cerebral hypoxia--obviously the worse his current and longterm prognosis.
