agree 99.9% This is why i think we need to go after Bryant Johnson from the Cards in FA hes is a big tough YOUNG guy. I would love to see us get Asante Samuel but Smoot Smack is right he would require way more than i think we should spend on 1 person we could get Johnson and a top FA DE (smith,allen, peppers?) for the cost of Samuel and again use our top pick on a DB. We can pick a up quality OL/DL with a later pick(s)

Great, quality lineman are not always easy to find. Skill position guys are a dime a dozen.
The Redskins success in the 80's was due to their great ability to find great linemen in the draft or free agency. Griim, May, Jacoby, Bostic, Raleigh McKenzie, Darryl Grant, Charles Mann, Dexter Manley, Marcus Koch, Dean Hammel to name a few.
I think Snyder/Cerrato's failure in player acquisition (before Gibbs arrived) was due to their inability to land big men. Other than Chris Samuels who was a no brainer #3 pick in the draft, not a single good lineman has been drafted by Snyderatto. Jon Jansen was drafted by Charlie Casserly. You have to go all the way to 1994 and Tre Johnson to find a decet Lineman that was drafted by the Redskins. That is a MAJOR problem.

Minus injuries this year; eventhough, some may be due to an aging team, I think we need a stud DT. I know we always say, "there is no pass rush from the ends," I differ in this opinion. We got Carter and Wilson (who I think is slowly coming into his own) I see so many times our ends getting up the field (over-aggressive? maybe) but a good pocket tends to either form around the opposing quarterback or there is a whole in the middle of our dline where the quarterback can slide up and make a run or throw, ala Romo to TO for a TD. If we can get a push up the middle to collapse the pocket and force the QB to our ends/blitzing LB's or Safety then we can get a turnover or sack. Yeah Golston and Montgomery are great against the run; but neither has done enough to get to the quarterback. Now, is this scheme or lack of a great DT. The next question, draft or free agency? As for drafting a big receiver, I think our receiving corp is fine, we have Cooley and I would make a strong bid to resign McCardell. How many 1st round receivers have outstanding years. (Calvin Johnson-yet to see) With our salary cap situation, we need to think "small", a HUGE DT.

In the later rounds we should look for depth with Oline, a project big receiver, and evaluate from there. We don't need a lot! Just our staff to figure out the hamstring problems!!!!!

Definitely not Kearse, IMO too old, too fragile.

I believe we need to have at least one big physical receiver, plus I am also concerned with Moss' durability. When he left NYJ a lot of it had to do with injury/hamstring issues. IMO we could address WR in FA. Bryant Johnson and Berrian are the best targets. Berrian would give us a legit deep threat with good size, 6'1" - 185 and Johnson is 6'3", 220 and appears to be a very solid receiver. Another UFA target would be DJ Hackett. He appears to have recovered well from his ankle injury, he's young with good size and has shown improvement each year. Obviously this doesn't take cap ramifications into account.

DE would be my 1st round choice if Campbell from Miami is available. No way Chris Long falls to us, and I'm not sold on the idea of another pass-rushing DE when we have Andre Carter. We need a bigger more physical DE to compliment him.

If Campbell is not there, then a deep class of CBs should provide us with a solid player in the first round that should be productive for 8-10 years.

I would also like to see a 230+ pound RB that can hammer the ball down by the goal line and on short yardage. Too many times on short yardage, Portis or Betts get sideways and get taken down, rather than pounding it. Neither is a "big" back so it is hard to blame them.

OL & DL depth is critical for the rest of the draft.

I agree with your points, except for drafting a big back. If he is in the bottom rounds sure, but we have Sellers. I guess maybe a more agile big back as opposed to Sellers jumping a yard before he has to. But I think Sellers is showing what he is capable of this year.
